Geocities and Googlepages will be closing

Googlepages: Much, much sooner

"Geocities" and "Burning Man" turned up a lot of hits, as did "Googlepages" and "Burning Man", so a lot of burners will probably be affected by this. Google has said that Googlepages sites will be migrated to Googlesites, but since GS doesn't support .html uploads, any GP site using them will lose pages on migration.

Yes, the closure of Geocities was mentioned on another thread, but a few pages in. I thought somebody had better mention this in a more visible location, so nobody gets a nasty surprise. The notice on Googlepages states that the migration is coming soon. I've heard that this will be happening in June.

That's just a few days away. Hope this gets to people in time.
