Cluster Bombs
Cluster Bombs
Cluster bombs are indiscriminate weapons that result in civilian casualties years after conflict has ended. Many of these bombs do not detonate after landing, and often attract children who think they're toys. Currently, in Iraq, there have been at least 200 civilian casualties from the use of cluster bombs. Most of the world has signed a ban on these weapons, which are manufactured in the US--which is exactly why our country hasn't agreed to ban them.
The Cluster Project is an online national art project designed to raise awareness about the controversy of cluster bombs. One section of the project, "What the People Know," relies on interested people around the country to take to the streets and conduct casual interviews with pedestrians. For more information, please visit our website!
Please send an email if you're interested in this project. Thank you!

No, that's not what we're asking for. People who go to Burning Man live all over the country. We're looking for people to conduct simple interviews in their hometowns, then submit them to us to be compiled into a finished project. Everyone who submits will receive credit for doing it.
If you're not interested, then you don't have to participate.

The world is full of people that believe that addressing their pet peeve is far more important than addressing any other issue. Yes, cluster bombs are a problem, but so are IEDs, over population, climate change, obesity, STDs, cancer, famine, ..............
It is not a good idea to jump on the board as a new member and expect everybody to follow your lead, especially when those that are currently reading the board are more irritated about their current location rather than being out enjoying the dust. If you really want to save a portion of the world from these nasty cluster bombs, why don't you throw yourself on one and shield those you most want to protect.

I don't know if I am cranky, or just have a different point of view!!
I just get tired of all the organizations that want to save the world by doing the same thing with no benefit. I see ads that are identical to those I saw as a kid, long time ago, and they still say the same thing and the same problem still exists. At some point, I would think they would realize their action plan is not all that effective.

I suspect the only sign they saw was the one that showed how much support they had in this forum. I am sure many waved good-bye, I am just not sure how many fingers they were showing at the time!!goathead wrote:I did keep trying to find any sign of life though....
