uuuummm.....

Just curious………

I wonder what Joel thinks about what I just posted about the solider that got shot, being the patriot that Joel is?

Also, I'm curious about what Joel or anyone thinks about what Bush had to say last night about those around the world that have nuclear or have the desire or want to create nuclear weapons as opposed to America having nuclear weapons, now that the world knows that WMD's were never found in Iraq?

Hopefully this will put the political thread back on course.

joel thinks you should provide a "cite" or a link to the news article.

joel doesn't think of you, DVD, as reliable in any definition of the word, reliable.

joel thinks he will continue to ignore your tripe

The cop that shot the soldier should never work in any facet of LE again, anywhere in the United States. And he needs to sit in jail and not in a protective isolation cell but be put in the general population. And yes I know what that means for a cop behind bars.

As for the nuclear debate I didn't freak out too much over India and Pakistan having nukes. BFD, we knew it was coming and they'll blow each other up before bothering anyone else. Now if it's Iran with nukes or crackpot Kim with some those are entirely different matters. With Iran...they are IMHO the single biggest threat to world security at the moment. The idea of a crazy fundie ayatollah having the ability to press a button and wipe out half of Europe is not something I feel should be tolerated and therefore they need to have that ability wiped out.

As for Kim...that's a true wild card that if there's any way possible to take him out it needs to be done...and in any way, shape, form, violation of international law, whatever...it simply needs to be done.

I did some digging and found this link among others.

http://www.nbc4.tv/news/6604502/detail.html

Unfortunately the shooting incident is is a real story.

So, if the soldier that was shot had died, should the cop get the death penalty? (Sorry, but this does relate to both threads).

Violence breeds bullies. Because the cop had the bigger stick at the time, does he have power until we, as a society, also engage in violence and become the bigger bully?

As a result of the absolute power we inherited at the end of the cold war, have we now become the bully of the world?

Today I honor the memory of Coretta Scott King, who spent a lifetime working for peace and nonviolent resolution to conflict.

That's a good question and another good way to frame the debate. I need to give that some thought.

Thanks for your consideration K, I do expect some flack from those with differing opinions. It is true that the time I spend in silent protest is not as impressive, or even as effective as a bullet to the head, or a lethal injection. I can only hope there will be a renewal of nonviolent dreams in this country that reaches from the streets to the White House.

I don't think the cop should get the death penalty because it was the residents of that city that put the gun in the cops hand. They hired him to protect them to the best of his ability using his best judgement. He may have over time developed poor judgement and should be relieved of duty but he was hired and trained to do the job. His abilities should be evaluated somewhere along the way. Did it happen? Did he just snap or was he just doing his job?

I don't condone the shooting but were any of us there. No. So at this moment it is premature to judge him. Yeah, sure there is the video tape but was it original? Was the video tape edited? Anyone here know for sure?

BTW - About WWIII, I personally am very uncomfortable with collateral damage.

No, the political words for today should be "Form Simplification and Consolidation". Good gawd, I've went through 3 ink cartridges today on forms, permits, and more damn forms. Taxes, permits, hassle, hassle, put on your rubber chicken suit and do 5 backflips through hoops while they stall over nitpicking details and do their byzantine best to lose everything sent in into the great governmental morass.....

So Uuummmm,

Now that a whole day has passed and the video has been played several times on all major networks and cable..........

I normally have a habit of apologizing to anyone when I realize I am wrong. I am always the first to apologize "no matter what."

So Uuuummm, Joel, did you see the footage today?

what did you think?

(No need to apologize. love is never having to say you're sorry.)

I'm incredible.

P.S. I think that you should.....and this is just a suggestion now......go back and read PNAC.

>>-- Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, chosen House majority leader, CNN has learned

Oh what a wonderful day it is! Alito got in yesterday, that sucked. But Blunt was denied his leadership spot! Missourian or not he sucked as Governor, he sucks in Congress, and he sucked as even a temp leader in the GOP's leadership team. Dare I say it but there's some logic and reason left in the GOP leadership after all! Good call people, good call.

So I guess there is nobody that wants to talk serious politics.....like, “for real politics “on the politics thread at all?

It's understandable since politics and religion are major taboos.......

"Morning noon and night” is just a fallacy.?

Ignorance is bliss.

Buckley has always been full of shit.

The dumbest thing (as the world is now seeing.) the French and Danish papers have done was publish the cartoon. To show you how dumb they are, they published it twice. Now everyone is boycotting anything Danish related. They didn't need to publish that.
It was the absolute most irresponsible thing anyone could have done next to wearing a KKK outfit in the middle of Brooklyn.

The Danish are really going to feel it economically.

I already made mention of how certain people lack the genetics of understanding other cultures. Joel you just made my point, and being that you are in middle america.......

Hasyim Muzadi of the Nahdatul Ulama in Indonesia comes to mind. He's not a "world leader" but he oversees the NU which because of it's humanitarian efforts among other things has a lot of power.

SHIT @#@$%#@% FUCK #[email protected]%$#$$!

You guys done baited me again.

Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Malik.

Most popular Muslim leaders I know of are famous outside of the media.

Most Muslims leaders I know that have a huge following, do not get enough recognition.

If you've never heard of him ok, but if anyone knows Laurence Fishburne
Just say "C.B.M.C." To him and a new world should open up to many, many people.

The culture is not like western cultures.

Actually.......this is kinda cluttering Joe's tread.

This is a Religion and politics issue.

If those that want to dare go there........maybe this debate should be debated on that thread to cut down moderation clutter.

(hey, I got a complaint about the clutter from a moderator. I'm doing my part to clean up the clutter. Hint!)
