Finally...this is my adoptive dad. I want to thank everyone who helped me figure out how to get this picture in here. It means a lot to me to put a face to the man who's influenced my life. It goes with my earlier story.

Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

I'm sitting at my desk in my office and through the windows see a WWII era halftrack zipping down the street with a driver, passenger and gunner on the 50 cal mounted on the back - all in realistic WWII period uniforms. Took me a couple of heartbeats before I surmised there must be a VDay parade nearby......Think I will go spectate and say thanks.
Special thanks to all you eplayan vets, and to my Dad, rest his soul, recipient of 2 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars, and a Silver Star. My hubby's dad too who was one of the crew of the USS Intrepid when it was hit multiple times by Kamikazes.

I want to give my deepest and sincerest gratitude to all the men and women, past, present and future, who made it possible to live free and proud. To all the military eplayans, thank you so very much.
Now, I want to thank my son, Austin Keith, Bolter, E5, who is serving his 8th year in the United States Navy. Austin, my oldest son, I'm so proud of you. You served in Iraq, and Kuwait. You served your country with courage, and pride. I love you son.

Re: Thank You, Veterans
I've checked on gyre's behalf and it's okay, so I'll leave it.
On the subject of image use permissions - It's a bit of an odd place. People use images from elsewhere on the internet on the forums hundreds of times a day without permission, so it's understandable that someone wouldn't think twice about it. But when the source is another member of the site, things can get a bit weird. It's a good idea (and common courtesy) to ask before posting, it's seen as asking before borrowing something from someone.

I didn't want to be pushy.
Re: Thank You, Veterans
It occurred to me that not everyone has used a claymore mine.
The helmet is a reference to the label on the mines, as you really don't want them pointed the wrong direction.

I've set a lot of them up back in the day, and blew quite a few too, but you know, I don't really remember that warning. I just remembered to keep the curved side out.gyre wrote:It occurred to me that not everyone has used a claymore mine.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Re: Thank You, Veterans
Did yours look like this?

If not, you probably had the early ones made before the recall.
My favorite adhesive, devcon steel epoxy was used as part of the fragmentation matrix.
There's a receiver insert for tailgaters too.

Re: Thank You, Veterans
They definitely had those little legs, but I also don't remember there Chinese lettering.
Lots of details have been wiped away by the years. I can also remember taking them apart and using the C4 for cooking when we were out of heat tabs. Seems like it was easier to get Claymores than heat tabs sometimes!
