Happy New Year from The Black Rock Beacon

Post by Mitch » Sun Jan 03, 2010 1:25 pm

With our usual alacrity, we've got PDFs of last summer's Beacons available for you at the top of our home page: www.blackrockbeacon.org

Those of you who were or are following our novella can read the prologue and epilogue in the news section of our site, which appears below the PDFs. It's about two stories down.

We'd like to apologize for our spotty distribution this year, but as some of you may know, our printing machine lost a battle with Playa dust, so we spent many a fine hour driving to and from Reno to get the papers printed. It was so much fun that we ended up doing an extra paper, which was generously funded by none other than Rhino. We also received assistance in the way of quick turnarounds from our friends at Keystone Quality Printing in Reno, the outfit that used to do the Black Rock Gazette. They're a good resource to know about if you need something printed for Burning Man, and they do t-shirts, mugs, etc. as well as publications.

We're beginning to think about 2010, which will be our sixth year on the Playa. More than ever, thanks to the dust problem, we could use your financial support, so if you like our publication, consider making a small but heart-felt donation. Or a large one. Information on how to do so is on our site at http://www.blackrockbeacon.org/donate.htm

Just as important: if you want to help keep Black Rock City and the Burning Man community informed and entertained, please consider joining our merry band of Burnalists. We especially need people in the SF area who want to cover the doings of the Burning Man organization in the off-season. A lot of what we do is tongue in cheek, or, more likely, pork in cheek, but we do seriously try to keep Burners around the world informed about our culture as it evolves. Those interested can check in with us on Tribe.net at theblackrockbeacon.tribe.net or send an email to questions[at]blackrockbeacon.org .

You can use the paper to sop up the fat.
