Water Bar?

Post by Ugly Dougly » Mon Apr 05, 2010 10:39 am

I heard that there was a bar in Los Angeles where they only serve water - different kinds of imported water.

It might be fun to visit. Anyone know if this still exists????

You don't imagine making a profit serving gourmet water?

Maybe on the playa.

Jim Gaffigan wrote: How did we get to the point where we're paying for bottled water? That must have been some weird marketing meeting over in France. Some French guy's sitting there, like "How dumb do I think the Americans are? I bet you we could sell those idiots water." "Look, Pierre, the Americans are pretty dumb, but they're not going to buy water." "Oh yes they are! Let's just tell the Americans the water's from France."

I don't know about you, but when they first introduced bottled water, I thought it was so funny, I was like "Bottled water! Haha, they're selling bottled water! ... I guess I'll try it. Ah, this is good, this is more watery than water. Yeah, this has got a water kick to it."

I was looking at a bottle of water; they have nutritional facts printed on the side. You know, I'm no chemist, but I have a rough idea what's in water.

I kinda expected to turn the bottle and see a recipe. "So that's how you make ice cubes. Apparently you just freeze this stuff. Oh, but you need a tray. That's how they get you."

I don't think you can buy bottled water in San Francisco either.

No, you can't get plastic bags at grocery and drugstores, but there's water all over the place here.
But I carry my stainless steel.

just googled it and found that I did hear something about it but was mistaken. The City banned it's self from buying bottled water...
from a google search-
First plastic bags, now bottled water; San Francisco is certainly setting an example. Mayor Gavin Newsom signed an order this week banning the use of City funds to purchase single-serving bottled water. The Mayor told Newsweek:

The transportation and distribution, developing the plastic for the water bottles, the cost of the water, has a huge environmental and economic impact....the difference between bottled water and Diet Coke is that you can’t get Diet Coke from the tap. It’s not like any other bottled liquids. These people are making huge amounts of money selling God’s natural resources. Sorry, we’re not going to be part of it. Our water in San Francisco comes from the Hetch Hetchy [reservoir] and is some of the most pristine water on the planet. Our water is arguably cleaner than a vast majority of the bottled water sold as "pure."

Lots of our mountain cities and towns have done the same thing, for the same reasons.
