I know someone in the SF Bay area loves me.

Anyone in the SF Bay area love me enough to loan me a bike for about five days, though? I've been invited on very short notice to take a road trip to SF with some friends (from UT) and they're all planning on using bikes as transportation once there. Is there anyone in the area who could loan me a bike for a few days, so that I'm not an anchor on their canoe? I promise to take good care of it.

Alternatively, does anyone know where I can buy or rent one cheap (in the area of $20)?

Thanks for the offer, Ygmir. Just found out that I'm being taken care of via some Ranger love.

Does anyone take a walmart bike on a serious road trip?

Except maybe Chevy Chase.

The way I read it was, RG was going to use the bike while in SF, not for the road trip from UT.
If the arrangement falls through, I am kind of out of the way, but do have a mt. bike that you're more than welcome to use. (as long as I get it back by aug. 28th  )
