IR remote control via laptop

Post by stuart » Thu Apr 15, 2004 6:13 pm

I have a mac laptop that has an IR port on it. I need to control several devices with time based remote macros. Anyone know of any software for this?

I just thought about something.

R U still looking for a solution for your three D1's?

You can get a usb to rs232 and modify the rs232 to run 3 devices.

If not, the only software I know of is only avilable to pc's.

even though there is this but rather expensive.

or you can always use music software. that always can run several timecode devices at the same time.

DVD players that take sync are very expensive. Computer based solutions are less expensive. I don't want to spend piles of cash. I can build my program such that it will have breaks and I can re-sync via remote after during those breaks. I have a programmable universal remote that I can put macros into but I think having a computer based solution would be simpler.

Try contacting Jeremy Lutes. His Lily Pond installation in 2002 used IR.
