Need venue to host mad scientist lab/puzzle game

Post by AllenCohn » Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:56 am

Hello, burners!

I have an odd favor to ask of you: I've gotten involved with a group that will be putting on a puzzle hunt (like a treasure hunt) in April or May of next year. Here's some general information on the type of game:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_(treasure_hunt)

We're just beginning our search for the central, home base location for the game. Since there are so many artists in the community, I thought that perhaps some of you may have or know of a large warehouse space (or similar) that we perhaps could entice/pay into hosting our own little performance art.

Our game is going to have a tongue-in-cheek "time travel" theme. As such, the central location will be a "mad scientist's laboratory" in which the protagonist (Doctor When) shows off his life's achievement (the time machine) to the players (100 - 150 people...which is why we need a large space).

The target date is a weekend in April or May of 2011. The game will last 36 hours, so we'll need the space for a whole weekend.

We're not picky: the set can be anywhere in the Bay Area. It would be convenient if the "laboratory" was not *too* far from stores, restaurants, and other "civilization."

If you know of anyone who could help us find a suitable location, please put me in contact!

Many, many thanks,
Allen

I'm of absolute no help to you, but I am trying to have a "mad scientist rampage" on playa and would love your company.

Thanks for the invitation. Sounds fun, but I won't be going this year.

This wacky game is my current creative focus.

Sounds like you're putting a lot into it. I'm impressed.

Look into the places in SF where the Decompression Parties have been held.

I'd go here first:
