I knew I recognized that site. Damn I almost took it seriously... again
Even more scary, is that I know people who are certain that entire article is true.
And it almost is.

Paris is great this time of year. It's rioting season! :)
Great chicks, decent food and plenty of things to burn! French police cars are very light and easy to tip over. Make your reservations today!

I find a paradox here:

who, will surrender, to whom?

my top ones, other than burning man would probably be coachella and reggae rising (which was canceled this year  ) coachella is pretty expensive, but if the lineup is good, it's worth the trek, the time and the money. reggae is fairly priced, you get to camp along the river (which is great in the intense heat) and everyone just wants to party, which is good because everyone's down to get fucked up.

but still, burning man trumps all the other festivals I've been to.
i'm on the playa, bitch!

bigger and better next year, every year...

You may want to check geography before heading out.

If you want another festival that centers around fire, but in a totally different way, check out the Festival de las Fallas over in Valencia. Basically these groups create massive satirical parodical statues of celebrities, politicians, etc. Then over a week there are crazy parades, "percussive" fireworks "concerts", masquerades, etc. This is capped by a "driving the devils out of town" parade with a crapton of fire and fireworks. Then, on the last night, they burn all the fallas statues to the ground. And they can get HUGE. It's not something I can do every year, but it's totally awesome. Plus, paella.

As for other festivals that don't require crossing the ocean, I generally make it to Coachella every year (this year will be my 11th). I also really like getting up to MUTEK in Montreal whien I can (usually ends up being every other year). In many respects it's the opposite of BM; lots of 'high concept' electronic music / video installations that inspire more "sit back and scratch your goatee in contemplation" sort of stuff. Even the straight up dance parties are of the more abstract/minimal variety.

Dont have to, TN is nowhere near the west coast. In fact Tennesee is so far from the west coast I can get there from Miami with only one day of driving.

Maybe you thought Coachella? Thats a western event. B and C are close in the alphabet so I can totally understand the confusion. Maybe we can move Tennesee for eplaya so its no longer so close to Florida and the reast of the eastern usa.
