The iPad 2 - "Waiting for Godot"...

Post by Rabbi Dali Rick » Sat Dec 25, 2010 9:57 pm

As I wait, solemnly for news of my beloved siren of technology, the iPad 2nd Gen. I have only salivated over the positive news of dual cameras, Flash and sd card support, a USB port, all the things that I wished for, all the things I said I'd hold out for, yes Virginia there is a Santa Clause.

But wait, there's more, that which we mere mortals dare but to dream, someone has let slip to me, something even more astounding, the iPad 2 will be equippted with a no-glasses 3D screen, courtesy of Toshiba Technology. It will be outfitted with 2 parallaxed cameras on the front and back, that will record and view 3D video, and live iPad to iPad 3D video-chat and videomail. I saw this on the Nitendo DS at E3 this year, and thought it was amazing, so for this technology to come in the next version of the iPad will be a slam dunk for Apple and Steve.

FAKE Or FACT?...

A friend of a friend sent a few links that hinted but only vaguely at 3D but my friends source is supposedly on one of the myriad of design teams working on it.

The 3D part is amazing. I always felt that 3D holograms would be the next big leap in technology.
Imagine a large holographic screen placed at the end of your Thanksgiving table, that projects your family at the other side of the country. It would appear to be one long interactive table, complete with conversations.
This 3D technology may just be the beginning of holographic travel, meetings and family gatherings.
Imagining keying in the Hermitage Museum, and then have a full wall of your house become an instant 3D trip St. Petersburg Russia.

There was a canadian action series based on this idea.

It says something about canadia, or at least the cbc.
