Bike Stand
Bike Stand
As a birgin I do not plan an art project other than a super tricked out bike. I found this Italian thing that folds up for easy transport on Craigslist. This is my base. I spray painted it gold, all gold, even the tires. I will add solar rope lights and flashing lights in the wheels. I've rigged a rather clever alarm system. Someone might try to take it but they won't get far without my knowing about it. I want a shade for daytime and I'm giving some thought to that design. Can I assume wind on the playa will knock over a bike supported by a kickstand? Do people just lay bikes on the ground? The best option would be to have a shade structure which disassembles and becomes the stand. Has anyone seen such a thing? Can't wait to meet you all!

My bike has a kickstand, my partner's doesn't. If we're out together, I park my bike with the kickstand and he leanshis bike up against mine and we lock them together. Wind has never knocked them over that I recall.
But if you manage to make some sort of shade device, that would catch the wind and the bike on a kickstand might not be so stable.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Interesting. I have never experienced that on the playa ever that I can recall.geospyder wrote:If you use a kickstand, place a tennis ball on it. Most times a kickstand by itself will sink into the ground. The tennis ball will help prevent that.

oh I have. bike tipped over as kicksstand sank in dust. I invested in some of these items, and they are pieces of cheap plastic. so I would try the tennis ball if I still had a two wheeler. trike no prob.jkisha wrote:Interesting.
