Time for a Happy Thread
I read the listing of threads, and it's time for a feel-good, happy, doggone, good time thread.
There's so much sadness and madness in the world and maybe in our lives. I'd like to hear some good news! Gimme whatcha got!
Good news here. I'll be moving in 3 weeks! California here I come!

Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Oh ya, start a happy thread during the time the site is supposed to be out of commission....
Hope you enjoy CA as much as I do. What part of the state are you moving to?

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Ack! Packoderm?
Just rings of skin diseases to me. (for a cat anyhow -- don't ask me why)

Packoderm is the entity who posted a picture of his shade structure. I like to think he's a black and white cat with a confrontational air.delle wrote:Savannah wrote:I like to assume that's Packoderm.Nice cat.

my daughter got a job oh yayayayayay! She has been battling isolation and depression for quite awhile now. I was going to post in the isolation thread about this but it fucking tears me up to even write about it...fuck here i go again
. Anyhoo she got a JOB, working in a little coffee/bar place here. Hopefully she can meet some new people and get out of the house more. She is way to gorgeous and smart/funny to be isolated at only 21 years old.

Just a little something EVERY woman (or parent of a woman or friend of a woman) should know!
Birthcontrol pills deplete Folic Acid. The result can be a severely debilitating tendency to isolate.
Or at least that was my experience.
When I was about 21 I started getting so paranoid about people looking at me and hating me and judging me (and I was a perfectly good looking and intelligent 21 yr old!), that it got to the point where I couldn't even go downstairs to the the little shop (run by a FRIEND) to get smokes if I ran out. I'd wait till my boyfriend got home and send him back down with the money.
I finally had enough, and called my mom to tell her goodbye, as I was getting myself committed to the looney bin. (that's in the good ole days when you could still do that)
She pleaded with me to come home. To give her a WEEK to see if she couldn't fix me.
Then went straight to work studying all her health books to see if there wasn't something she could do.
By the time I got there the next day, she had a bottle of folic acid in her hand. (the strong stuff. the stuff you can't buy over the counter anymore)
By week's end I was back at my apartment, with a whole new outlook on life. By that weekend, I found myself with a job in a bustling bar, where 90% of my job was social interaction.
Blew me away.
Even further away when I started to realize what the result might have been if I HAD gone to the psych hospital that day. I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't have given me vitamins!!

We (the company I work for) just got one of the largest jobs we've ever had.
Here in Denver they are building one of the biggest VA hospitals in the US. And after a year of politicking and bidding, and bidding, and re bidding, and interviewing, and pricing negotiating, we got the job!
We will be under design contract through next April-ish, the under major construction contract from then tell mid 2014! Then a 20 year service contract. The service contract can probably on keep one person employed.
But in the mean time, we get to bring folks off of unemployment!
Sadly, it means I'll be on site and not on ePlaya.

Lucky, I'm so happy for your daughter!
Delle, thank you for the tip. I take a vitamin B complex--among other vitamins--but it's probably pretty basic. I think I'll read up on folic acid to my satisfaction and pick some up. That's what I do with vitamin D--take it not as part of a multi but as its own thing. It gets dark up here in winter.

Yeah building/renovating VA Hospitals all over the country. In almost every city it seems like.
To us it was odd that they built it in Denver and not Colorado Springs(1 hr south of Denver) There are 2 air force bases (the second is really just housing for the first), and Fort Carson in CO Springs. And two battalions that were deployed from Texas are coming home to the newly expanded Fort Carson.
But I'd rather not drive the hour to CO Springs every day, so its a win for me.

Something good happened to me today! I was able to confirm 2 out of 3 of the volunteer shifts I asked for have been approved! Including the one I was the most anxious about. Best day ever!
I forgot to congratulate maryanimal on having a timetable for her move. Rock n'roll. I LOVE it when the finish line is in view, don't you? Makes arduous things so much easier to handle.

You know Iso, I don't care what you post as long as I get to see your avatar on the left. That makes me happy.Isotopia wrote:Bad News: 30,000 children around the world will die within the next 24 hours. Most will die from preventable, water-borne (or water related) illnesses.
Good News: AIG's profits are up through the roof. As are Exxon's.
