Eplaya Triage

Post by theCryptofishist » Fri Jul 22, 2011 7:05 pm

So, the wheels are turning, time is crunched, and daily posts are increasing.
What's your strategy for maximum eplaya fix with minimum time spent?

The posts seem only increasing because of spam and ticket sellers/buyers threads, which is making visiting the board a much less than pleasant experience, compared to before the upgrade.

yeah, same here.....I mostly only visit threads that interest me, or, that, look interesting.......or if I see someone I like to read, has posted.

also, looking at the response column, most of the spams are "0", so, I look at threads with responses.

Even before the change over it seemed like there was more traffic than last year.

No,no, I'm glad you are all here.

It always seems to get busy closer to the burn, and this year seems even more so with all the noobies.

Shit, last year was my first and I still feel like one! 8)

I used to be able to read all the posts, now I cant even come close. That and the need to spend an hour a day dumping spam fro eplaya and it doesnt seem as fun anymore. I read what catches my eye and im directed too,

I've noticed a lot of unfamiliar names at the Who's here list. I figured most of the people who're going are too busy to be in here. Has there been a lot of spam in Discussion?
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

I'm using "view your posts" it cuts the list down to threads I've already responded in. As far a looking for new posts, new topics... the spam is nutzo right now. I tend to look for the poster instead of the topic... since one spammer is coming up with so many topics and they don't all include drug names.

I Foe spammers, when I do the unread thing I click on all the spam and ticket posts first without even looking at the content, get all that crap out of the way so I can then concentrate on the unadulterated drivel.

Being on the East Coast I was logging on before mods could go through the laborious, unnecessary and ridiculous task of cleaning up the mess so I decided it would make sense to log on later in the day when at least some of it had been tackled...... as I type this at 6:30AM. So, in that regard, I'm doing exactly what admin is doing about the spam.

...but I'm not complaining, mind you, more like begrudgingly coping.

I typically look for the threads I've been staying on top of or part of.
I love the intro threads so check that regularly. Its great to talk to new folks and see what they're about.

I typically have my 4 or 5 Q&A threads I really like, and same with Open Discussions.

There are a lot of theme camp threads this year, which is awesome too.

I mostly just go to the threads I know and don't bother trying to read everything. Just like the real playa, there is no chance in hell of seeing everything.

That's why I think there is more traffic this year.

Last year at this time I was still reading everything being posted.

Now there's too much. 8)

It didn't help that my house mate was on the computer when I got home, but I'm going to bust through open disscussion and skip some other sub-fora. And that "mark all read" comes in handy.

Fucking madness.
I know this will be a surprise to some of you, but I don't actually want to spend the entire day trying to catch up with this stupid board.

I have 150 tickets, but since I found out that they make good crackers, I'm not selling them.

Buy a stickleback.

Have I done my obligatory figures now?

Not a surprise at all. It seems like I'm on all the time too, but since I work on a computer and always carry my iPad, I just take frequent short breaks to check in here to see what's happening and comment. Now, with all the noise of the ticket sales, it makes "short" check-in breaks near impossible. Definitely that tip on marking the Tickets 2011 forum as "read" first thing helps, though ads two extra steps for me as my shortcuts to eplaya take me right to "unread posts".
