The Shroom??? Is it valid???

Post by Miss_GO » Tue Jul 26, 2011 12:36 pm

Okay I'm sure I'm just freaking out here but is there any validity to this article in the Shroom about this being the last year?

Yes its dead serious - couldn't you tell from this excerpt:

"Caught off guard, those in attendance, including a herd of sparkle ponies with their cell phones, twitter accounts and digital cameras at the ready, were stunned into silence before being able to alert the world of the impending disaster rivaled only by the revelation that there is no Santa Claus."

Edit: Although I'm puzzled that you posted this in Intro section.

When in doubt, read the article or check other stories by the publication in question.

Moving this to Open Discussion.

We could merge it into the Last Year topic with the other hysterical Shroom posts.

I absolutely hope not, this will be my first year, and from all the experiences i've heard from the four previous years my boyfriend has been there i'm sure i'm going to want to live there, if this is the last year.. i will be greatly devastated... :(

Maybe there should be a short quiz that one needs to pass in order to purchase a ticket.

Just an idea..

Funny I was just thinking along those lines - perhaps an IQ test that requires a minimum of 10 out of a possible 200?

Grabbing some Brawndo and going off to watch idiocracy again.

What a silly idea. Ends in 2011. Everyone knows 2012 is the last year for Burning man due to the world ending in December of 2012.

I've been thinking each one I've gone to might be the last! For 12 years I've had the thought every year the tickets go on sale that that year could be the last...

All kinds of reasons it could be the last year, every year!
-----BLM or Nevada stops it
-----Larry gets tired of it (jeez, would YOU want it for 25 years?),
-----Pass the torch on to Regionals.....
-----and of course, every year could be my last on the planet.

I wouldn't miss it except for severe litigation or urgent family matters, which I had to obey their call for two years in my 12.

I remember when the Onion reported no one showed up at Burning Man due to not getting their shit together in time. I kind of wish I still had that article. (Although I DO have pack-rat tendencies, I actually do make myself throw stuff out from time to time.)

One problem,
That article is not funny. It does, however, point out very legitimate and real problems, now that tickets are selling out. This'l be my 16th year on the playa, & I've heard these rumors most years...
Still, the article isn't funny, it's accurate. (I think the unicorn excerpt is simply badly written (in the wrong tense))
