There's just something about these ticket threads that makes me feel like BATTLE!! It's hard to resist sometimes. I think it's how these posts are turning over the compost pile of things we've seen over and over again, e.g. banning RV's.

Suck it.

OK Here's one that is truly funny, in a sad sort of way. This poor soul needs a ticket, is here desperately trying to find one and I don't think the poor dear has ever used a BBS in her life. She/he? Is not the OP, but has posted in someone else's request for ticket thread. trilobite is giving her some advice, telling here to read the offered threads. Her very next post says something to the effect of "where do I find the threads?" http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... ead#unread I didn't have the heart to snark at her.

Good lord!
Some of these posts are getting out of hand.
What sorta idiot would bother spending money to fly from another country just for Burning Man, with out a Burning Man ticket?
And if he is coming to the U.S. to check out lots of stuff, not just Bman, then his stupid ass needs to shut up!

Motz's Entitled Artist REmix(Icarus and Thor Participation edit)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not really expecting sympathy from anyone. I am simply stating my participation situation at the burn. that is all..
This year I will have been to BM 8 times since 04' and every year since and including 06' I have worked the Potty Project. A little known off shoot of the DPW with a very important job. I really get a kick out of it and my Boss and work mates are fun.
One thing I have observed over the years is more and more people actually participating in the event which kinda ROCKS!. Don't get me wrong, there is always some of the most amazing fuckups I have ever seen out on the playa and each year I am constantly amazed and horrified by what some of these fuckups are able to pull off.. I am amazed they are still alive but I'm glad they are.
but let's face it, Burningman gets bigger ever year, and theres this flood of new burners every year which is more actual participation. It's AWESOME!!! I mean it's great bragging about all dope beats you consumed at the Bass nectar show.
For me, I spend the majority of my time devoting my energy to work simply to be able to attend burning man. And every year I reapair at least 10 bikes so that people can get to Center Camp or where ever they want. I do not sell my welding, repairs, adjustment and general tinkering help. Often the playa is the only place I feel I can bring my inherited and learned talents out as a tribute to those that shaped me. I enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that those 50 to 80 participants that I help yearly are back on playa having fun with their bikes, crazy bikes, mutant vehicles and pedal powered armored carp or what not. I don't really need to use this space to promote my work because the majority of the time I prefer to remain a low key neighborhood shop. But I will say that over the years I repaired many, many things and chances are that if you've spent a decent amount of time at the burn you've probably seen several things with one of my repairs. Now I dont care much about recognition so I don't toot my own horn too much. I'm not in favor of suggestions about picking and choosing artistic individuals for an option for a staff/ lower priced ticket( something different from the scholarship tickets which you can only get once). I know that some of these artists live for their art, even though they barely make a living wage mostly by choice and frequently on purpose. It is a great strategy to go after and get economic outpatient care and many times it works.
Oh and I hear ya about the term ''douche bag'' It is really lame. A more appropriate term for those who leave there shit behind is "a free range moop artist."

I get very annoyed that I get called an elitist for believing somebody who spends a half a year or more preparing to share something with the community is more deserving a ticket it than a last minute virgin without a clue who has just gotta go this time.

Yeah- I'm getting annoyed that anyone who had a ticket before the sell-out is getting called an elitist, regardless whether it's their first burn or 20th.Marscrumbs wrote:I get very annoyed that I get called an elitist for believing somebody who spends a half a year or more preparing to share something with the community is more deserving a ticket it than a last minute virgin without a clue who has just gotta go this time.
Now if they're going to call me an elitist because of my inherent superiority over them, I'm fine with it.
