Burners who would like to be on IMDB

Post by Ghandi Warhol » Thu Aug 04, 2011 8:28 am

Maybe you know that IMDB stands for Internet Movie Database.
It is the Bible for the Entertainment Industry.

Basically anyone of any reputable standing has their credits listed there.
The only way to get a credit is to work on a legitimate project
and
the only way to work on legitimate projects
is to have credits.
Almost a Catch 22.

If you have wanted your own IMDB listing to get started
here is your chance

Thank you.

WOW, so basically you are selling credits as a "reward" for "donations"

Only some credits need to be verified, others can be added easily. We've updated our own imdb's to fix errors quite easily.
Suck it.

Also.

You do realize that you can not just show up and shoot a video project at Bunring Man and then commercially distribute it, correct?

Is your project already registered with BMORG and the Media Team and has it been approved?

I've heard illegitimate projects are more fun... and more likely to become tomorrow's standard for movies!

Guerrilla film making is fun to do (been working on indies for over 10 years now) but most of the time you can keep it anonymous and out in public and you can get away with it, most of the time.

Not so sure about a guerrilla project at BM though. They have that whole pesky legal thing going on concerning commercial exploitation of the event.

I was thinking more in terms of Michael Moore. As far as BM goes, there are a lot of folks there who would rather not have their exploits recorded and, unlike the people Michael Moore films, they are not hurting anyone. Under those circumstances, recording them is just rude. I do think that this film maker should get permission first.

If he is going to film and commercially release a short film about Burning Man, he HAS to get permission, no should about about it.

Damn Straight!!!
I wonder if there is a way to report him, or simply have his credentials verified. Sadly, people have pitched money on his kickstarter.

Its also interesting that inthe last paragraph, they make a point of saying "I would admit if the money were going to pay for my Bman trip"
Yet, the entire thing will be filmed on an Iphone 4 and edited on an Iphone 4.....
Is it being sponsored by Iphone?
If its all going to be done on an Iphone, why do you need 5 grand? Iphones are expensive, but not 5 grand expensive. And don't say its for video editing softwear.... because its all going to be edited on the iphone.

If it smells like a scam, looks like a scam, and is asking for money like a scam.... Its not a duck.

I think it said the money being raised was going to be used for traveling and submissions to film festivals.

Maybe the film makers are going to pour fish oil on some burners and film that on the playa.

If no body minds, I'm gonna go real off topic for a second.
I had no idea what IMDB was until last Saturday.
We were laying around watching TV, super hung over, and a music video came on. About half way into the music video they are asking these girls what they think country music is about, turns out I know one of the girls. Haven't seen her since high school, so we had to look it up. So when we typed in her name her IMDB page came up, sure as shit, she is in the music video.
I thought it was pretty cool, that this girl actually made it in "show biz". She was always into theater, dance, and singing. It was pretty freaking awesome to see that someone from my high school actually made their "dreams come true".
This is the video, she is the second blond girl at second 2:58 that says something about country music being about a pick up truck and beer.
