aaa tow truck driver here, had to send for bigger truck. so, plan is to tow trailer back to circus circus koa, and truck to the mechanic. more news as available. still no cell, just this little laptop. thank god for facebook and verizon.

Being a mechanic but sadly not in your area, what were the symptoms of the failure, is it a gasoline engine or diesel?

I recall there's a burgin eplayan by the name of Lucid Vegas or something close to that.

I hate to say it, but might be best to just get it into a repair shop and have them do the repair or maybe ask the tow truck driver if he does side repair jobs.

Sorry, been out of touch and out of range of towers for a bit there. We are back at Circus Circus KOA, the tow truck driver brought the trailer here and the truck to the ford dealer.

It's acting like it's out of gas, but it has two full tanks, we changed the diesel fuel filter 1000 miles ago, it all looked fine, just something isn't flowing. We were driving along and it shuddered, then lost power, then died.

The tow truck driver is a hoot and a holler. His daddy is in the pen for murder, he was basically raised in foster care, he's married now, doesn't drink as it seems to have caused problems with his "biologicals" so he decided just to not do it. What is it about me that people spill their guts?

AAA is worth every penny. Glad we traded up to RV towing.

TK I had similar symptoms on one of my trucks. It turned out to be an $8 fix. It was the fuel relay switch. A little
black box on the fire wall behind the engine. Best of luck to you!! We will be in Vegas late Sat. night or early Sun. morning.

I'm laughing just reading your tow truck driver part of the story. I hope the problem is simple and you're on your way soon.
It sounds like you should invite the driver to join you guys on the playa this year. If the truck can't be fixed, he can tow it to the event!!!!

Edit: Friendly Ford over off Decatur is not far from the Circus Circus KOA (I know right where you're at), and they've got a great shop and usually have any parts you might need fast. I hope they can get you up and running! Also wanted to share something about the speed traps as you head North...wide open stretches you'll see NHP: Nevada Highway Patrol....but it's the small towns with reduced speed limits well before you get into town that will get ya...with all due respect to my law enforcement friends the local cops smell $$$$...be careful.

Aww you should be no more than a days fix away! Definitely sounds like something fuel flow related, which can only be so many things. Anything but internal mechanical issues are generally an easy and relatively quick fix. You should be back on the road by the end of the day I'm betting!

Just checking the thread...I was hoping to hear you're "Leaving Las Vegas" and that truck was running again!

Of all the days to get stuck here...we could shatter another record high temp at 112 for the day!

(I wish I could go this year so bad...of all things all of my equipment I had stored in Nebraska just got here on Monday...I've got my tent, all my water cans, everything but money is so tight even old George on the $1 bill is screaming to cut him a break! Oh well, there's always next year!)

Whatever that gasket did could not communicate with the computer. Cleaned it out greased it and put it back in. While they were in there they did it to all the connectors in the vacinity. Two others were loose.
