Next year's theme?
Next year's theme?
So... does anyone know what next year's theme is going to be? I'm hoping, given the state of the world, for APOCALYPSE!!!
But maybe that's too easy. Thoughts?

I'm hoping for "A Winter Wonderland" or, maybe, "The Ice Age."

Re: Next year's theme?
my apologies, I did a search and only found an argument about how they usually announce the next theme right after the man burns... This was more a post that was meant to inspire people to suggest ideas. Clearly I didn't look as deeply as you do into prior forum topics and should delete this thread.AntiM wrote:This is what? Threads don't get deleted here, unless they are truly offensive or very out of date.

Re: Next year's theme?
No, just irksome. Maybe even annoying. Offensive would be a hate thread directed at one or more eplayan, perhaps with detailed information culled from elsewhere on the web. For instance. Please don't try and get a thread pulled. It's pretty upsetting...

Re: Next year's theme?
Maybe when getting ready to post a new topic, there should be something that MAKES you SEARCH first to see if a topic like the one you are about to post already exist. However, we all know how awesome the search function can be - I have searched several times for something that did not come up at ALL and I did all kinds of settings, trust me I didn't give up after the first 10 tries (although searching anything over 10 times b/c one is trying to be self-reliant can be mind numbing)

Re: Next year's theme?
PHPBBS is known for its quirky search, I think forcing people to go through it every time they wanted to start a new topic would be an unfair punishment on the vast majority of ePlayans who don't post similar or identical threads.
I don't want to throw them into the merge-o-matic at this point, it's not too many and I think the posts get a bit scrambled when they're all thrown into one big pile. I've got a meeting to go to next week, and if a theme hasn't been announced before then I'll raise the issue and report back. In the meantime, let's continue to enjoy the theme discussions.
Me, I think they should go for some kind of 'vs' theme, with the pro-apocalyptics on one side and the new age hippy types on the other. Make Thunderdome the man-base, and let hippies and post-apoc burners go at it all week in some kind of pro-am tournament. That way we can settle the question of whether 2012 will be a new age of enlightenment or the end of the world as we know it... why wait til December?

Re: Next year's theme?
Thanks, Tril!
The best themes seem to have been those that have a couple of different interpretations.
BTW, wouldn't it be a breath of fresh air if the BMOrg actually took suggestions from the hoi polloi burners instead inflicting one of Larry's acid dreams upon us all? Just sayin'.

Re: Next year's theme?
Personally I'd like to think that the other 5 Org members locked Larry in a room with some crayons & star-charts so that they can come up with a theme without him. I would love to see a theme by Danger Ranger- for some reason I see it as being along the lines of "fuck this, lets blow shit up".

Re: Next year's theme?
This is assuming there is going to BE a next year. Something funny is going on and no one is giving any answers. Notice the BM site changed the ticket sales date for 2012 from January 18 to "to be announced". And rumor has it that the BLM is pissed off about too many tickets being sold after the cut off amount. Also a woman I know in Australia saw Larry on tv saying essentially he didn't want to do it anymore, and who can blame him,he's not getting any younger. So, anybody have any thoughts or suspicions?

Re: Next year's theme?
I have a great weariness from all the wild rumors and morality tales that swirl around the event. It will be there, or it won't. I seriously doubt the latter. I suppose we're going to be seeing that Larry has cancer of the spleen, and there will be all sorts of rumors around treatment and succession and anything else that anyone can think of.
I suppose it helps people feel connected post-event, but I find it dreary and pathetic. I know, I'm a killjoy.
