Looking for hydraulics & mechanical engineers

Post by Aggrav8d » Mon Sep 19, 2011 8:47 am

Hi!

Are you a fan of The Beast ( and the MondoSpider ( I've build a 2' wide crab robot that *doesnt* drag its feet and I want to build it again, bigger. Much bigger.

I'm thinking of using the boom & stick from the rear of some Backhoes. I can raise the money to buy the parts and build the chasis. Before I throw money at the problem, I need to validate my idea first. I'm looking for some volunteers who want to put "build awesome robot" on their resume who can help me figure out the parts I don't know - shape of the chasis, choice of hydraulic pump, electric/diesel, etc.

I know you're out there, I even spoke to a few of you on playa in 2011. Please reply to this message or pass it on to your engineering friends as I want to bring this project in 2012 and need to get started ASAP.

Thank you so much!

Oh, and here's the one I built:
It's much more stable now. Point is I've got the software all done, and I can drive it from a playstation controller. Now I want to scale up and I need help, please.
