Paiute Art Show

I was just wondering if anybody knew that there was a Native American Art Show in Nixon during Exodus this year.

If you did, did you stop?

I am thinking that this type of thing might be something the tribe could maybe post here on eplaya or get the main BM site to post about for an increased awareness.

IIRC it was mentioned in one of the JRS newsletters just before the burn.

The pdf I found said it was at the Museum/Cultural Center.

I've thought of stopping there, just out of curiosity. And it's an interesting looking building.

It is a nice facility.

I stopped by a few years back because I wanted to learn more about "the people" and the land we were using. THere is some very interesting history there.

For example, few people realize that when they are exiting Wadsworth and starting to drive next to the ravine that they are passing through the site of two battles between the Paiutes and the settlers of the area. The first was crushed by the Paiutes, the second was won by the settlers.

As a fan of history, I find it all very interesting..

I wandered around looking for it on late sunday afternoon but couldn't find anything going on or any signs, just the one on the main road. They may have closed by the time I was there.
