C'mon now........
yup, the ticket thing is weird, frustrating, disappointing, mysterious, enigmatic, unfair.........you pick.
But,
Does no one see the opportunity here?
The opportunity, to build community, to build friendships, to practice what we preach?
I see, the chance to go out of my way, to help others.
Beating the brush, looking in dark corners, under couch cushions, wherever, for those "extra" tickets, that we all know will be floating around, very soon.
Think, of the great feeling, if you find someone, somewhere (by searching and asking) with an extra ticket, and you hook them up, with a dear friend or campmate.
Imagine how you'd feel, if someone went that far, for you?
Look at how we can be a do-ocarcy!! \
We don't need no stinkin CL/epay......we'll find our friends some tickets, and well get 'em to the playa!!
Don't give up hope!!! for those "without".
There are those of us ( I'm hoping others will join in) that are working, to find you a ticket, and, make BRC, the place we love, with the people we love.
The finger pointing, name calling, and blame laying, are of no value, at the moment.......sure, later, look back and see how to improve things.....
But, for now, lets rally for our less fortunate comrades!!
Lets not wait for someone else, to do this, or provide a "service".
Let's make it, so our friends are with us, on the Holy Playa R
no whining, no crying, no blaming......grab your damn boot straps, pull'em up, and get to work, helping those dear to us!!!
and.
Don't give up: It Aint over..........
wait here:

Yag, if tickets were in hand, that would work. With no shipping ubtil June, then nothing can get exchanged. I agree that this can all happen at some point, but tickets really need to be out on the streets.

Re: C'mon now........
This is the only thread I feel comfortable posting in because THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL
I am going to do everything in my power (to a certain extent) to ensure my camp-mates get theirs.
I have nothing better to do over here in South Carolina and that is my priority for the next few months.
That and also preparing to be a nomad virgin burner if it comes down to it.
I'm going to Burning Man 2012. I'll make new friends, I promise.
I got my ticket and I don't think it's fair for me to feel sad that others did not get theirs.
And it does not mean I'm going to sit there and listen to incessant bitching, moaning and general lameness.
As far as I can see, this system is (sort of) working. We have yet to see the end result and all we need is just a little more patience.
I have faith that the community will provide for those who truly want to be there.

Re: C'mon now........
right Sham.......but we can lay the ground work, give and receive commitment and build good will from now, till then. I don't know that the tickets need to be "out on the street" to build and do this.Shambala wrote:Yag, if tickets were in hand, that would work. It gives folks a chance, to truly help.
to make a promise, to keep a promise, to show the integrity we all have, somewhere.
Some of us show it more than others, but, well, we gotta start it somewhere, some time.
I just think, I'd rather have it together, know what I want to do, and be ready, when the time comes.

*smooch to Fishy* yer right Fishy.....if we can't do it, when it needs to be done, how do we call ourselves anything?

Re: C'mon now........
Well said Yggy. And if I may reinforce a point, Barbie Death Village, prior to the lottery even beginning, started to make plans to see to it that those who did not get tickets at least had a fighting chance to pick them up from ourselves. Only time will tell how well it will work out, but experience has shown us that as the summer approaches, and people can't make it to TTITD because of any number of reasons (money is usually at or near the top of the list) they become desparate to off their tickets. History has proven, year after year, that this exact same sceanario will play itself out. So geeze, C'MON NOW, cheer up. You will make it to the playa. And if perchance you don't, stop by Barbie Death Camp and punch me in the nose.

I am keeping my eyes open for any extra tickets I might find for my eplaya buddies.
I also owe it big time to the group I camped with last year.

A buddy of mine just gave up completely. He's going to be pleasantly surprised when I find a ticket for him (after I find tickets for everyone else and make sure he gets his last because he's being a whiny whinertons)

Well it is good to see our resident Pagan Norseman continues to calm the sea of despair! Huggggggsss to you my friend! I've read and responded to so much "The sky is falling!" threads the past two days, I wondered whether the burner community had lost all touch with reality!
Yeah, I'm guilty of acquiring (and succeeding) more tickets than needed just to insure my camp mates would have options. I am positive many theme camp sponsors did the same thing and those tickets will be pouring out of the wood work soon. If there was ever a time when insecurities were showing, this has got to be the epitome of mass hysteria.
Thank you yggy. I'm so proud to know you.
And fishy? hugggggs for you dear one! You changed the batteries in that vibrator yet?
