Help needed

Postby maryanimal » Mon Feb 06, 2012 8:04 pm

How can you tell your computer's been hacked into?
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

groucho marx would have a really snappy thing to say as an answer right now.. ..im sure you could think of what itd be like

(i dunno, why dont you look for a really tired lumberjack)
(i dunno, but that pile of woodchips is probably a good place to start)
(i dunno, but that hole in the side sure looks promising )
(i dunno, did you look for a third rate comedian inside of it?)
(i dunno, but if it starts telling jokes like these, you can be sure a hack is involved)
(i dunno, but i cant tell my computer anything)
(i dunno, i cant tell it anything, have you tried?)

*ashes a cigar on your desk*

(i dont know the real answer.. and probably, neither would groucho)

look it might have been hacked. Or something. You can send them a message (although without email that could be cahallenging...) and ask them WTF? I bet they have a FAQ on the issue.

Aside from that Google the issue - and see what the nerd out there in internet land say.

I'm not techy, but that's what i would do to start with

I've had that happen and so has Trish. It was just a matter of doing a complete shut down and cold reboot. It seemed something in the browser security was all screwed up.

Rebooting solves 90% of my puter problems.

What happens when you try? Do you get an error message you could give us, or does it just do nothing?

Have you tried checking your email from another computer or with another browser?
Help narrow down if it is your computer, your browser, or your internet?

I usually open internet explorer and try that. If that works I know my Firefox needs to be updated...
