What to do with the bottle of Playa dust I brought home?
So, like most virgins, I brought home a small bottle of Playa dust. I'm not sure why but it seemed like a good idea at the time. What should I do with it?
Sprinkle it on my food for that unique Playa taste?
Get a fan and make mini dust storms?

Throw it around inside your car and hit it with a spray of water mist for that unique playa scent.
Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

Save it for a time that you're having a bad day.
Then poor a little in your hand, and smell it. Even taste a little to really get the olfactory senses running!
Or, on a hot day poor a little around the rim of a PBR, sit out in the sun, close your eyes, and day dream for a minute.

You could get small glass containers (little jars with cork stoppers) and make little keepsakes to share with campmates or friends, or do some other similarly crafty thing with it. I've still got a supply that I brought home years ago. On a couple occasions I've broken it out for testing purposes (testing fabrics, etc), and occasionally in the spring or early summer I've sent samples to newbie campmates or other first-time burners who either were curious what the stuff was like or who had concerns about how allergies or asthma would be affected. I really like illy's suggestion though, I think playa dust would make a great pick-me-up when I'm down.

What other people think about you is none of your business.
Re: What to do with the bottle of Playa dust I brought home?
I have something akin to what Trilo's saying: a tiny glass bottle--maybe an inch high; corked & filled with 2003 playa dust, with the )'( stamped on the outside. There's some strong thread twisted around the neck of the bottle, which connects it to a necklace. It's one of my favorite souvenirs, and one of the few playa necklaces I wear off and on during the year.

Have a chem student test it for calcite content, by treating a portion of it with hydrochloric acid and assuming the stoichiometric calculations would be based on calcium chloride + carbon dioxide + water being the end products.

I filled a glass lamp with playa dust and put a few souvenir stickers on it. I will keep this into my old age, as I'm telling the grand kids stories of the glory days.

Let it be the start of a collection! As I turn around and look on the bookcases I see my wife's collection of 17 little plastic containers of dirt and sand she's collected around the world. Plus she has her Moon and Mars regolith simulant. And as of September she added 2012 BM playa dust, which is very similar to the Moon and Mars regolith simulant, just a different color. As collections go, this one is as cheap as dirt, literally.

When heated, playa dust turns to black glass. I have been experimenting with it. It takes a LOT of heat.

Put some vinegar in it and cover it with a balloon and see what happens.

Re: What to do with the bottle of Playa dust I brought home?
Here's an idea I thought of this year. Take 1- altoids tin/ partially full of playa dust, 1- book of matches, and instructions on how to make a man out of the matches.
Pour a small amount of water in the tin and let dry. Place the matchstick man on the newly cracked playa dust, and burn. Voila! Your own portable burning man!

Will your average propane torch produce enough heat to do that?

I mean after all any veteran sparkleponie knows that it is not necessary to encapsulate playa dust as it is upon all of you and your belongings anyway.
Say nothing each time you open a folding chair or other gear and the telltale mist of evidence allows onlookers to say "Oh that's from Burning Man !"
Be discrete and value your experience as it is veritably indeed a museum.
