Watcha Gonna be for Halloween!
Its Fall, and that means Halloween is coming up!
This is by far one of my favorite holidays! Its one of the few chances a year you get to see people, that are normally reserved, cut loose and put on some fun silly costumes and act out of character.
What is everyone going to be and what are your celebration plans?
This year, me and a few of our friends are going as Mad Scientists!
We've ordered a bunch of our costume stuff already. Once it all arrives I'll post some pictures.
Though, none of us have ordered lab coats yet. We all want different looking lab coats and are sort of in a quandary on which ones are best. Anyone have any experience or tips when it comes to picking a lab coat?
Or, any experience making custom lab coats?

Re: Watcha Gonna be for Halloween!
We're having a Halloween carnival at the office on the 26th. I'm just going to add butterfly wings & mask to my regular clothes. That night I'm going to a masquerade party, and will be wearing a more elaborate butterfly costume. My sister is. Having a party on the 27th I'm going to be a piñata for that one.

Giving this a nudge over to Open Discussion…
You may want to take a look at one of the bigger online medical supply/clothing sellers, you should be able to find a decent selection at a pretty reasonable price. A few years ago I went that route to get a set of scrubs and a lab coat for a costume and it worked out great - the price was less than it would have cost me for materials and I then customized with stencils and fabric paint).
I haven't yet decided what I want to wear for halloween this year. Most likely it'll be something either piratey or steampunk, and serve as an excuse to expand my wardrobe in one of those directions just a little bit more.
Good one, latchseeker - I love that movie!

AFAIK "Sexy Scientist" is a common costume shoppe item.
Daughter says she wants to be a vampire cow. Again. I'm sure she'll change her mind ten times over the next couple of weeks.

In the past, I have been: a witch, witch, witch, ghost, witch (I was very focused as a child) . . . gypsy, witch, banshee, flapper, Lady of Spain, vampire . . . post-childhood: every character in Rocky Horror, a number of Victorian steampunk characters for my previous job, an 18th century Gravedigger, a Pirate, Nurse Ratched, Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan, a Rotten Plum Faerie, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Courtney Love, Lizzie Borden, Amelia Earhart 2 minutes post-crash, Storm from X-Men, dead Jayne Mansfield, and Slash (with bf as Axl).
I have no idea what to be this year, but hopefully it'll be bloody, fantastical, notorious, literary or dead.
I've got a spare you can have. Maybe two.illy dilly wrote: Though, none of us have ordered lab coats yet. We all want different looking lab coats and are sort of in a quandary on which ones are best. Anyone have any experience or tips when it comes to picking a lab coat?

Tip: keep your labcoat on when you hit the restaurants for dinner. You get seated faster. And if you have a clipboard, too? It's surprising what you can get away with.

Used to have to wear yellow lab coats in radioactive contaminated areas. They were all made in japan. I surmised that the large ones were really meant for large midgets. Get the extra large size.

Stoked to be a part of Railroad Earth's Hangtown Halloween Festival 3 night all night camp out freak out in Placerville. Good fucking tunes and peeps. I am very happy with the themes this year~
Friday: Gold Rush Zombies
Saturday: Celebrity Monster Mash Up
Sunday: Slumber Party!!
I found a cheesy 80's indian head dress IN THE PACKAGE at a thrift store!! A real vintage halloween costume. hahahahaaa Think I'll be scary Ms. Tonto the first night. Doing up the Bee thing on Saturday somehow (I'm thinking Kiss Bees, black and white makeup with bee costumes and some fangs) and Sunday calls for some hello kitty fat pants and cozy blankets.
Or I could just have my own themes like
Out of Fashion Tribal Hippy Peter Pan Raver
MC Hammerpants and Flashdance
Camouflage/army
Overweight sparkly pony zombie
Shirtcocker Stiltwalker

Ahhh! My all time Favorite Holiday!!!
Love the Vampire Cow Idea of your Daughters Bob!!
Things I have been:
Zombie prinsess bunny foofoo, Ninja bunny, Teddy Ruxbin (way before Pedo Bear, same Idea), Dandy school boy with a Girlfriend as Priest. Naughty Nun (five of us), Cave woman with GF as Cave Man, the Human Phallus, Joan of Arc, Happy Sperm, Juan Valdez's donkey with boyfriend as Juan. Disco dude, Candy raver girl, Victorian era Wench, Angel, Headless horseman Riding my horse "Nina" (She threw me, we limped home.) and others I don't recall.
As a kid I would dress as a woman as much as I could get away with, my disapproving parents got a bit spooked out at one of my Teen year incarnations as Cinderella and told me No! so I changed it to Peter Pan (still got to wear tights and a skirt
)
But this year I have a few party's to go to, So I plan on being;
la Feme Mummy Bunny, Princess Disco Bunny, and .... I dunno yet. Vampire girl?

Re: Watcha Gonna be for Halloween!
I gave my halloween costume away last year. mainly because it was the only time i wore it and it deserved better. I do have a halloween party this year, literally no money to spare so, suggestions please I WANT TO SHINE, my ex will be there (newly single-ish) and it would be nice to be prettier than her
I don't think i can pull off man in fire all night, besides i only do that once ayear
just had an idea, so i thought i would add it here, a skater boi thats been run over, just get a t shirt and drive over it so it has tire tracks down the back or possibly a german police officer from the '60's (i have the coat and a toy gun)

We were looking at eBay. Found some for like $14 bucks and another $7 for shipping. Not bad. And I like the modify on my own idea. Possibly buy an XXL, so that there is plenty to cut/trim/bring in and what not.trilobyte wrote:You may want to take a look at one of the bigger online medical supply/clothing sellers, you should be able to find a decent selection at a pretty reasonable price. When I used to lifeguard more often, and teenage boys would say "If I drown, will you give me CPR?" I'd regale them with possibility of cracked ribs and vomiting . . . and I found that it really cut down on the chit-chat!

LMFAO, it's really something to look up at the faces of bystanders when we work a code out in plain sight as they listen to the snap, crackle and pop of chest compressions. I wonder how many walk away and call their lawyer about DNR/Do Not Resuscitate orders lol
