Across the US independent performance venues are having their own economic problems.

That's your local tavern with music on to their larger independent concert hall cousins. The National Independent Venue Association is working the issue nationally and locally search them up.

The concern is that large promoters like Golden Voice - Anschutz Entertainment Group (Coachella) and Live Nation - Ticketmaster - Liberty (Electric Daisy Carnival) will buy up the choice venues in many towns, then work to put the rest out of business.

In my home town we have about 5 music promoters and Live Nation is making moves to put them out of business.

There is a lot of "fuck Burning Man" etc. static out there. Just keep in mind what it could be replaced by. And also keep in mind what your local venue could be replaced by.

The BEST EDM is still spontaneous, stretching the boundaries, and makes you feel. It evokes emotion, whether from one listener or many. It promotes positive action on the part of the listener, and gives them the ideas to make the world better. Finally, it makes you THINK.

I may be all wrong, but that's been my experience with EDM.
