Re: PAGE TWO
Though w.r.t. insurance policy tickets, I'd more direct the blame at BOrg for allowing such tickets to be resold at their un-depreciated value. The BOrg won't even criticize the practice, and may even tacitly support it for more ticket sales.

Yeah, I know. They're not technically breaking any rules but it just seems like a shitty thing to do. But hey, whatever. Glad it worked out for ya.

I never understand why any of you even bother posting for tickets wanted, or selling presale ticket this early in the year. Who is going to respond this early?

Boring. I keep waiting for an interesting story. Nothing. These people think they're at Starbucks. Wait in line. Place your order. Pick it up when your name is called. I miss the empty promises. I miss the flowery language. The class of 2018 are a bunch of unimaginative carbuncles.

Had to look up what a carbuncle was. Carbuncle: kar,beNGK(e)l noun: A severe abscess or multiple boil in the skin, typically infected with staphylococcus bacterium. Synonyms: boil, sore, abscess, pustule.Ratty wrote:Boring. I keep waiting for an interesting story. Nothing. These people think they're at Starbucks. Wait in line. Place your order. Re: PAGE TWO
I know people who study this. It's a generational thing. If all your life you have been able to ask social media to do something for you (for free) you begin to believe it's normal.
The less social and more anonymous the platform the less risk of judgement. People ask others to search for them, give them tickets, etc. Essentially the Internet becomes their brain. And there is no downside for asking for anything.
We give answers all the time to "should I go to Burning Man" (move to your overcrowded city, etc.) If the answer is not a fawning yes, people get butthurt, even when the answer should be "no" or counter question "why?"
ePlaya is an extension of the Burning Man Corp, so maybe we should just start the "why?" dialog politely before answering "yes." I've seen some ePlayans doing that,

Re: PAGE TWO
You can blame the boring ticket pleas on us moderators. With the sell out, the requirement of adhering to the face value has gotten stricter and narrower. Nothing which approaches bartering is allowed now, nor hints or favors or incentives or conditions; nothing may be attached, as that is extra added value. Hugs and thanks and smiles are still okay, but barely hanging in there.
Yes, it is sad. We had to do it to level the field. One poor souls had to try a few times before getting their ticket plea free of enthusiastic offers of help. Very genuine, and it broke my heart to tell them they had to tone it down.
I miss the vegan raw chef days too.
Yep. That.

I'll never understand what pharmaceuticals were involved in granting low income tickets to people flying in. They must have been really good pharmaceuticals to grant low income tickets to virgins flying in.

you probably answered part of this earlier in the thread, with that wonderful post.some seeing eye wrote:I'll never understand what pharmaceuticals were involved in granting low income tickets to people flying in. Also, I'd say, it's partly due to our society seeming to be evolving to "we want free stuff", and others in the "if they ask real nice and tell a sad story, they deserve a free thing".

It doesn't do much good to block somebody, if people keep posting screen grabs from the blocked person. I guess it may be time to move to "second level blocking"

Hell its annoying when someone reposts an entire long post just to reply to it even if it isn’t someone you’ve blocked.

I mean, it’s gotta be a pretty hard sell to get people to sign up for jobs so they can work for free during their vacation!!
One day it’ll dawn on you.
I’m going to hang for a week in Palm Springs. Got desert. Got bars. Got music.
But also got pool... got non-corrosive environment... got plenty of availability...

I'm beginning to think the international expansion of the Nevada regional was a mistake. You want radical: each camp collecting dues publishes its accounting books to its campers and Placement. If the books are secret it's just like a Joie de Vivre hotel.

Re: PAGE TWO
If you choose to pay a hundred bucks to join a camp of a hundred cool people, and where you are also given kp duties and camp chores, but first have to seek a golden ticket from outside that camp and those cool people, you and that camp are Burning wrong.
Its almost like "your" camp is really only interested in filling out the budget and work schedule, more than wanting YOU. And it's as if you are seeking to hang out with cool people who only want your money and labor.
This rant has been a public service announcement.
