What would happen of native peoples hunted festies? That would solve appropriation real quick!

Cool info on dog soldiers! Thx!

You're welcome.

I've always thought that the Paiutes, the Cheyenne, the Dine, and the Hopi had it down right. They didn't own the land, the land owned THEM. Sort of like a cat on a much larger scale.

WOW! Could you give me the 'Reader's Digest' version of this post. Reading the long one would be 15 boring minutes of my life that I would never get back.

It's another of those uplifting triumphs of the human spirit that Reader's Digest excels in. I'm waiting for the Smoking Gun version, myself.

Thx Mr Rhino. The USA relations to native peoples have been sad to worse. But Canada does not even recognize at a government level many tribes. Cool to see in Australia some people-level honoring of native people, a change, but way more to go.

Considering how lovely one becomes by selling a ticket, I think I'm going to start a new perfume to cash in on that sex appeal.

I guess despite all these playa weddings I should be thankful that at least people aren't begging for tickets to attend a baby shower.

The correct answer was "make arrangements to leave it with a local gunsmith for cleaning and then pick it up in a week". That way you dont violate the closure order, no cops are involved whatsoever, and you get back a professionally cleaned and oiled weapon ready for zombie duty.

Damn those pesky thread locks anyway...

I can't believe that lady got chastised for wishing she had her gun when that guy jumped her and her friends.
Dude deserved to be shot.

Oh no-no-no! You dont understand! The poor assailant was simply misunderstood! He had a bad childhood! He was a product of his environment! Clearly a disenfranchised youth!

You should have more tolerance. Have you no heart, you MONSTER!!!

I think that thread is one of the most foreign things I've ever read. The idea of carrying a gun is down right weird for me.

I mean, charges were filed, right? This event happened, right? Totally believable and not exaggerated in any way, the dudes here are sure anyway. Why no protection then, when they have the permit and it's a way of life, you know, when it counted? Why the faith that no one will aggressively ask for a phone number at the Burn? Oh well, like shooting fish in a barrel.

I don't believe the OP wished to carry a gun around the festive.
My impression was she was asking if once she arrived if the gun was in a secure safe was that allowed.
As soon as she realized no guns allowed at all on the grounds she immediately began looking into alternatives.

Thread drift then ensued

An interesting legal question for sure. One I have faith will be given some thought now that it's been brought up.

I'd be willing to guess the guns to resident's percentages are interesting in the state of Nevada... one might think a tad high as a guesstimate :)

I suck with handguns, but a shotgun? You betcha. Would I take it anywhere outside the home as defense? Nope. Unless I was defending myself against milk jugs. I kill the hell out of those bastards.

Bear mace. Not some wimpy little can for a lady's purse, but real bear mace. Not always legal, but more effective without killing someone.
