The part I find more interesting is that 5 of the top ten porn searches in Iran are gay. We're there (we're everywhere), just hidden so that whole "stoning" thing doesn't happen.

Ironically Transgender folks have it pretty good there. I read that Iran is like the second or third leading country in preforming Sexual reassignment surgery. and state funded at that! They also enjoy leagle protection and full rights as a woman (their views on women's rights are seriously fucked up though).

That "porn habits" page is actually kind of fascinating - almost all of the countries Westerners think of as "Arabic" have high percentages of gay searches, way more than most countries.

ok here's something interesting
in russia the top porn search term is "russian"......
wouldn't that be like going to china and ordering "chinese food"?

I used to live in Shiraz.... I miss Iran, wish they could rejoin the freaking world. Not that the Shah was a good guy, he was not, even a teenager like me was followed by the secret police. But Persian culture is wonderful.
I barely knew what gay men were while I was there.

My father had a contract working with the Iranian Air Force, we lived on their base. I went to the International School. Amazing place.

For #9 in Russia, I briefly read it as "Russian Manure". Just more scat play, I guess.

Everywhere that being openly gay is illegal has a gay underground, just like the US did before the gay rights movement (hell - there's still a gay underground in parts of this country). You can't legislate people to stop being who they are, and even the very real threat of death can't stop the human urge to be loved.clocksnmirrors wrote:well based on what eric posted there must be a gay underground there. i suppose you had no exposure to that

While I was fairly savvy for a 16 year old, there were definitely gaps in life experience at that time. Sexuality in any form was still a bit of a mystery. We're talking early 1970s, after all. By 1975, I was living in San Francisco, very educational.

Hehe. Yes, AntiM is shorthand for Aunty Em, Aunt Margaret. I have considered getting greytone makeup and that outfit. I'm getting a good start on the grey hair.
I died a little last week when I bought my first bottle of "purple" shampoo ... formulated for silver hair. Sigh. It seems to be doing a nice job, but ... sigh.
I used to live in Project Artaud, so there's that.

Mine isn't white yet, kinda in between. But screw it, I'm done with dye.
Heh, Rodman. I knew I should have scooped up the Rodman in a bridal gown doll when I saw it.

Re: craigslist in iran - men seeking men
Out of curiosity, I checked out "Men seeking Women" on the Iran craigslist, and there were only 5 ads, and mainly from Americans.

Re: craigslist in iran - men seeking men
Do they also offer those temporary marriages on Iran's Craigslist so couples can cohabitate while on vacation?
Can you imagine that kind of shit if Burning Man were hosted somewhere in Iran (suspending disbelief that even that could occur there)? In addition to checking your tickets and for stowaways, they'd need to check your marital status if you happened to have mixed genders.
