Right Elliot, what I meant was that it has been below freezing most of the way so far, but dry, nothing on the main roads until today east of Chicago. And now icy snow. And me warm and safe in nice hotel. If it doesn't warm up some I expect tomorrow more of the same icy.

*strolls in, pours whiskey*
yay Elorrum! who was Marco Polo?? ha!
do you have winter traction tires?

Tink: you sure the block heater is working? Is it the stock one? Even at 8 deg. it should make the truck start pretty easy and idle pretty good. Make sure if you use a pan heater, it's not to concentrated where it might boil/burn the oil directly above it.
I had my Dodge in -10 and with the heater plugged in over night, it fired off fine.

I run studded tires in winter, but, it does make stopping quickly a challenge..........

Yes it works well, fires right up. "Dusty" is like me on these cold mornings, just wants to go slow.
I like to baby all my trucks, if I'm warm, they should be too. If the wife would let me park in the
house, I would.
We are the perfect match, granny slow drive like I like it, but will pull the house off its foundation when needed.
And will still burn rubber with mudders in 3 gears.

Don't need studs up here, they keep the roads pretty clear. In the 7 years I have lived here, I haven't once used chains either.
....the password is pineapple.........

Just throw it on the fire! It will kill it or cure it!!

Yep, it just flipped from coffee time to beer-o'clock.

Henry Weinharts private reserve is just my fav utility beer. I'm taking a break from sewing. I've made one shopping bag, now about to start another. Xmoose presents. We'll all need them, and I realized you can't wash the disposable ones from the store. Mine are cotton.very tough. How are you Sunbeam?

295 miles today in icy snow. 595 to go to Quebec, but better weather tomorrow. Clear in the early morn,.so early start for me. Can do it. Btw, I should have checked to see if Canada was in my gps unit.
Garmin updated said it did include Canada. I wonder if I made a decision on not having it? When I get to delle's maybe we can check on a real computer. No maps showing east of Michigan. Just says i'm driving NE. I have a good road atlas, and verify routes via google when I can access wireless. Good to have a broad spectrum of navigating tools, I guess.

Glad to hear you made good progress today El. You were on my mind. Driving in unfamiliar territory AND in the ice/snow can make for a long day on the road.
Yay for better weather tomorrow.

Having first pot of PG Tips after my half of the carafe of coffee. Trying to shuffle through developing developments that might mean a major shift in life, that I'm not enthused about but am trying to make the best of. (Most of you would go "Well, that's not a bad thing, WTF?" but I have reservations nonetheless.) Looking around the office at detritus of computers and other project parts... also looking at cats dozing comfortably everywhere and wondering if the world would go all to hell if I joined them.
