heli, the beau gave up guiding a month-long grand canyon trip this summer to spend it with yours truly. He can commiserate with ya on giving up what you love for whom you love.

At the age of four I learned to swim in the Stanislaus at Parrott's Ferry, at the time a class three.... at the age of fourteen/fifteen I would swim those rapids and Horshoe Bend (class four, maybe) without impliments (read 'vest') and absolutely loved it.... the whole thing is now under about three hundred feet of water (thank you , Army Corps of Engineers) *sigh*....
Is the Northern Calif river the American? I've done that, too (in a homemade kayak about forty years ago)....

fuck, I was at the quickie indian food place getting to go the other night. Ended up in line behind these two hippies who could just not get their shit in a pile. Harassing the poor dude behind the counter about the cost (it's like, the cheapest indian food on the planet) the way the food was prepped was not PC (my veg friends love this place). Finally they get the total and they don't have enough money for it and they continue to harass the poor counter guy. This whole process took well over ten minutes. Finally I get my turn but it is repeatedly interrupted by hippie number one digging out penny after penny and walking it around the counter to give to the guy who just gave them a bunch of free food while hippie #1 and #2 reamed the guy for having 'attitude'. In walk 2 more hippies behind me and ask if I am waiting on line 'for quite a while now, yes' I respond. They check out hippie #1 and hippie #2 rumaging for change to pester the counter guy with, look me up and down and say 'what's your problem yuppie?! why don't you help them out?!' I reply 'I absolutely would have if they were not such assholes to the poor guy behind the counter.' They continue to harass me as I order.damn hippie
FUCKING HIPPIES!

Um, I'm not really a hippy, I just play one sometimes on the eplaya. (yikes!)
Actually, the beau has some notion that I'm really the redneck and he is really the hippy, when all this time I swore it was the other way around.
As evidence, the christmas lights which continue to hang on the front of my house.......the bare-dirt front yard full of dirty children.....
