It looks like the bar is pretty well cleared out.
I knew I should not have eaten that chili and eggs for breakfast.
I hope you all have a save journey, I will keep an eye on the bar while you are gone. I am getting used to quiet this time of year, but it still seems strange.
Anyone out there drinking Crown, have an extra on for me.

This bar is usually so crowded, I just sit over in the corner out of the way and enjoy the crowd.. Then, all of the sudden, it is nearly empty. It sounds like you are still trying to go, so I wish you luck. As for me, well somebody has to watch the place make sure any remodels are completed before the crowd gets back. I have been kind of surprised the web cam has not shown a lot of activity quite yet, but I bet it gets busy tomorrow!!
With that, I think I will sit back and have another sip or two or ........

The way this last year has gone, I suspect a lot of people will be there in mind only. I had noticed that the chatter had dropped a bit from past years, and many of the "regulars" don't seem to be around as much either.
I am just curious if the new web cam will show any light from BRC. It would be nice if another camera was out on the playa, not high resolution, just enough to help the imagination get a little closer.
Cheers

you're welcome, Sputnik. I love staring at the girl in the front's boobies. I'm hetero but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy looking at them.
stargeezer, I think that burncast.tv might be be posting videos from blackrock, but it doesn't look like anything on there now is from playa 2009 yet.

Just went and looked at the webcam SG, I doubt it would show the lights of the BRC. I can see the glow from work here when the sunsets, sort of like the glow I can see of Reno/Sparks at night. The cam needs to be pointed a little to the left it looks like.
They are really enjoyable to look at...
and she has such a big mug of good beer.
where is yg when we need a play on words?

*comes careening through all the backlog of unread pages and bursts into the bar. Nearly falls over himself upon hearing the squeak. Runs around and WD-40's all hinges.*
All right I'm finally caught up.....
*is greeted by the sound of a cricket*
Where in the world did everyone ...... Riiiiiiiiiight duh no wonder no one ever accuses me of being smart. So anyways....
PM TITWI congrats on the grandbaby
GrannyPoo make sure you keep takin pictures cause I here that if you don't and then you blink they're knowitall teenagers headin off to college. Don't know that first hand, but maybe I will someday. *crosses fingers* Oh, and you have my best wishes and prayers that you continue to recover well.
Mozy dunna know what's up, but sounds like you're goin through one of those miserable downswings life throws at us now and again. *sets a box of excellent cigars and whiskey on the table in the dark corner* here's to hopin you get through it
GH acid and high voltage and midnight visitors oh my! What size is your Fresnel Lens? I got a bunch of 7"x10" ones to mess around with. I just need something to protect my eyes now. Half a square foot of sunlight is damn bright once it's concentrated down to a 3/16" circle. Thanks to you I've become slightly obsessed with harnessing the suns power to some degree. Got plans in my head right now for a water pre-heater and an air heater.
Deb good thing you're usually on to keep the Goat in line. Lord only knows what YG would find when he comes in otherwise.
Speaking of YG anyone know how to get a hold of him? We're just about out of dust back here *grabs some of the last of it and tosses it around* I just figured since he usually makes sure the place is dusted right he might be able to pick up some more while he's out there.
*looks at the clock*
DAMN! Another day is coming up way to quick! Safe travels to all, even those not physically going. Traveling there in your head can be very dangerous depending on when and where you do so
*throws something on the ground there is a flash bang and puff of smoke and Jet Set is gone*

Thanks much for the link Artemis. I will check it out during the week and see what I discover.
Mozy, are you sticking around the bar for the week. It is going to be awful quiet in here. That fits with my personality pretty good, but I always thought you were one that preferred to be in the middle. Hope you enjoy the week however you decide to spend it,
GH, don't make those ruts in the road too deep. I have known people that make strange commutes, but one from BRC just does not seem right. Once inside, I would think a mechanical problem could be arranged to strand you there!!
Cheers all.

Hey SG... goathead Pours them a glass.
Yea just us here I guess.
Had a great time last night.
When to my neighbors house to watch the wizard of OZ
on film in his twenty-two seat theater.
It was one of just a few reels that that still exists.
Along with Mickey mouse though the looking glass also a command performance reel and a old news reel.

this was only a piece of the performances. simply amazingly clear.
WoW!! In the OZ.
I could see the freckles on Dorothy’s face. And how blue the tin mans eyes where. All such amazing detail
I could also see the cable holding up the scarecrow when he was still
up in the cornfield.
And the witch had red strips around her broom.
What a great night to remember.
glad I was here to see it.

Thanks much, hope your job allows you to enjoy one too.
Being that close, you probably get to see all phases of the event, and hopefully enjoy most. This is one of those things where I can't decide to jump in feet first, I suspect I would enjoy the pre- and post- activities more than the event itself. Being out in the boon docks 30 miles away from 50,000 people just does not seem that bad to me. Since you are a local, I hope they give you some kind of special pass so you can come and go as you please, or as your job requires.

Just another cup of control room coffee....
It's kind of a mixed blessing, yes it is neat to see, but also frustrating.
Working when there is so much going on and not being able to go out.
sort of like a little kid looking at the Christmas presents and not being able to open them....
The job is 30 miles out, but I am in Gerlach off shift. Right now the apartments are all BLM, Washoe Co Sheriffs, LMAO....
Not nearly as friendly as DPW.....

I know burners complain about all the LEOs around, but I can understand why the event would pull them in. I really feel for the locals, while this does help their economy, I would imagine there are more than a handful that do not like all the extra attention that LEO gives to the entire area. I can just imagine what would happen if the event and all that it draws were to invade our little valley, the locals get upset over just a single strange vehicle in the area.

Power does ugly things to people.
These LEOs are being pulled in from all over the country.
Normally they are in a location where they also would be recognized.
They tolerate rude people all year while they try to do their job.
Where better to release suppressed feelings and take advantage of their power??
While I do not approve or support their behavior, I guess I can understand it.
