In a basement a few blocks north of the circle,
Galactica charms and entertains,
With the piano and bass (their first gig together, but aren’t they tight?),
The shouting happy hour crowd, some of them are even paying attention,
Here is a friend at the end of the bench nearest the piano, another one across the room,
And I’ve got the margarita that helps this long week end, though it’s not over yet,
Tonight, just tonight, is for losing myself in music.
Black Fox 6A.jpg
A year ago she charmed and entertained in my little theater,
Now she sings in this pink-lit basement,
As the bass player dreams of low notes and forks clank on china.
Black Fox 7A.jpg
Aren’t there many basements like this?
Where someone you know sheds her above-ground skin to become herself for a few hours?
The set is done, she takes the tip jar with its 1 5 10 20's,
A good night, a few blocks north of the circle.

Maureen is next, I didn’t know - more music!
The owner walks back and asks the drummer to pull the curtain to make a better backdrop,
Usually he comes through here with a look like what the hell are these people doing in my basement?
He’s smiling tonight - it was an angry day above ground, but it’s not one here.
Maureen is next with her own band,
Black Fox 4A.jpg
The bass player’s bony fingers do their nervous dance,
The drummer’s shirt tail has long since come out, his hair gel losing the battle strand by strand,
But the piano player is so cool, it’s ten degrees colder on his side of the house,
Black Fox 2A.jpg
He goes into his solo on a small nod from the bass and then passes it to the drums,
While Maureen has Georgia on her mind,
In a basement a few blocks north of the circle.

The Bar walls begin to vibrate with a subsonic rumble permeating every corner of the building. As the rumble subsides, dust rises in the air forming into a shadowy figure of dust at the rear door of the bar. As if blown by the wind, slowly the shadow of dust moves across the darkened spaces of the room. Essence of whiskey and cigar smoke permeates the air, as a spiritus manifestation crystallizes behind the bar. Candles in the room flicker as music starts on an old dusty jukebox in the corner. The ethereal figure moves across the floor to the stone hearth, blackened from years of use. As the figure stops at the hearth, a bright blue-violet glow, appearing like fire, creating an ethereal flame, causing a surge of an immense number of luminous minute sparks darting across every surface of the room… after making some intricate moves on the dance floor, the Idiopathic dust slips down between the cracks of the floor around the trap door leading to the bars subterranean structures…………… written in the dust on the Bar top....~Happy Birthday Tisha~

hey kids! exciting news!! our local burn artist crew, Pyroglyphics, specializing in large scale, analog wooden sculpture burns has been chosen to build the core burn for our default regional group, North Bay Burners!! It's a glorious lighthouse with custom stained glass windows that will burn with the other core structures surrounding the man on the playa. these guys have been building and burning gorgeous sculptures for years and have really perfected the art and science of air flow, fuels, and fire to make beautiful, kinetic, long-standing burns.

hugs and dusty kisses y'all!!

Hi tisha, I'm burner von braun, glad to meet ya! Nice place you have here. And congratulations on getting the nod to build part of the CORE burn!

What a great feel to this page with all the lovely musings and birthday wishes and congratulations for great achievements.

Bodes well for the week-end..... I think I'll just bask in it all a bit with a wee drink if I may.

yeah, BBD, it was, I saw it too........smelled the cigar smoke.
and, I see BB set out "enticements".

I would suspect, there are only a handful of folks who could get said spirit, to materialize.
Interestingly, probably all beautiful women.........

certainly, he added a dimension to the Bar. Fun and witty at times........biting at others, but, all in all, I enjoyed him.
he first snarked the crap out of me here, when I was "new"........but, we became friends after a time.
it's just too bad it is how it is.

There does seem to be a lingering faint cigar smoke in here.....

I am counting down the last hour of work before I am off to a weekend-long music festival. Have harvested a couple of quarts of cherry tomatoes this morning and unpacked the moonshine I brought home from the Ozarks....all is right with the world.
