Fox News

Post by cowboyangel » Mon Oct 04, 2004 1:16 pm

WASHINGTON (AFP) - An official at Fox News Channel said that one of its political reporters has been disciplined for posting a fake news item on its website about Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites).

Paul Schur, a spokesman for the network, said Fox's chief political correspondent Carl Cameron had been disciplined for posting an item on FoxNews.com that included several made-up quotes attributed to Kerry.

"Carl has been reprimanded," Schur said Sunday, defining further comment.

People dont really belive what is broadcasted or reported on Murdocks entertainment companies now do they?

c'mon now.

The daily show does a great job of making Fox the butt of all jokes.

What fodder. What would we do without Fox.

Truth in broadcasting? Blech, who needs it!! :D

An old manager of mine and I used to joke about it;

if you ever need to feel like your whole world's just waiting to fall apart or be bombed to pieces by terrorists, just watch Fox.

Again, one of the many reasons I don't peruse the tele...

I had the misfortune of staying in a hotel room with one of those mini-bar dealy-wops. Having a few hours to kill I decided to watch Fox News, to see what all the hullaboo was like.

You've heard the saying that wood heats you twice? Well a mini-bar hurts you twice. Once when you wake up with the hangover, and the second time when you pay the bill. I blame Bill O'Reilly.

Fox news is stupid. Some draft dodgers in the town where I live wanted to put up a monument to recognize the draft dodgers from the Vietnam war (that is another thread I'm sure). At no time did anyone ever say it was to be put up and paid for by the city, but Fox insisted on continually saying it was supported by the city and all the people who live here, which was completely not true. Even after the 6 people that wanted to build it said they wouldn't do it, Fox kept on saying they would. How annoying. Needless to say every official and non-official group here has been inundated by pissed off people telling us what ungrateful pinko cowards we are (the letters full of with terrible spelling and a skewed sense of history, and say they'll never come up to Canada to spend money, as if they ever had before, so they are entertaining at least).

The mayor is thinking of petitioning Fox for an apology because their 'news' was completely false. On the flip side, lots of anti-war people now know where we are and want to come here for holidays.

LIES by Rather
this is innaccurate

Rather did not lie. He cited sources with debatable validity. The burden of proof is still on the B.A. to show evidence of service rendered. It has failed to do so for 6 years now.

thread drift alert

B.A. = Bush Administration?

without a doubt, Bush did not fulfill the remainder of his service obligation... however, he did serve a majority of his obligation.

what most of you have not pointed out is, a large number of service members do not fulfill their service agreements... do you believe the public would stand for prosecuting every single service member that does not meet their obligations? my observation is no, the general public would not tolerate strict adherence to the law.

a fact wholly overlooked is a whole lot of people never even served a day in the defense of this country and the constitution.

personally, you want change... participate... if you don't participate... quit yer bitchin'

my humble opinion of course.

what i have observed about the Rather news using the forged doucments was shoddy journalism, lax standards, ulterior motives by news executives...

now, as a military officer, would i have typed up a letter as the one CBS thought was an original... HELL NO... and i doubt a LTC would have and/or actually did either.

so, based on my observations and experience... Geo W was looking for a way out of the military... the easiest method is not to pass or take a flight physical... flight (pilot) positions are valuable, and as soon as he was no longer eligible, a flight position opened up for someone else... it is that simple... i would also go further to say... the Texas Air Guard was glad he left... one less congressman's son to look after.

now, back to the first election... personally, i believe the DNC gave up the election out of embarrassment over Bill Clinton and campaign finance issues/irregularities.

and one final point, i don't watch Fox news.

Debateable validity???? Geeze! They documents were produced by a word processor which were not even widely available at the time, do you really think any network would make itself look so foolish and have its anchor make the statements Rather was forced to if there were ANY chance the docs were real??? The whole thing made all of See-B-S look like morons...Yeah, just as the lefties claim the swift boat veterans are working for GW...this informant directly works for Kerry! (No, I do not actually believe that). And BTW, Bush did learn to fly a jet aircraft, obvie he was there for thousands of hours of training...wake up, realize Kerry has already lost as the DNC wants to have Hillary run in 2008 and does not want Kerry as the incumbant then...They have themselves designed Kerry to lose.

I dont care HOW cool the graphics are, fox news is a joke. We report you decide? More like 'we opine you recline'

they are so blatantly partisan it is a joke. Fair and balanced my ass.

Here is a screen capture from http://www.thefreespeechzone.net which shows the crap they ran and reported it as truth. Check out the quotes

They documents were produced by a word processor which were not even widely available at the time
docs were possibly produced by an IBM selectric2 which would have been standard office equipment at the time of the memos writing. Nothing conclusive can be made of them as they are copies of copies. Each successive photcopy introduces an error in excess of 1 point. Enough to make it nearly impossible to deduce the validity of the document. To simplify that for you; It can neither be shown that the documents are fake or real. What has been shown conclusively is that bush elected to miss a medical. This got him bumped. It has also been shown conclusively that he failed to fulfill his requirements under the strict guidelines of the guard during wartime. We can only guess as to why he did this.

As per the swift boaters, financiers of that campaign have been directly linked with ranking RNC operatives. This information is not controversial.

If the President had simply or would simply still today come forward and offer an explanation of his grounding. It was something more than just not showing up for a physical. You have standing orders as a pilot to get a physical every single year. Our president, who is now crossing the country and -- and promising to protect the country in times of terror, had made a similar pledge when he was a young man, to protect the country for six year, and he didn't do that. And there's not an explanation that has ever been offered by him as to why he did not take that physical; nor has any reporter ever asked him point blank, Mr. President, why did you not take your physical? The only person ever to answer that question has been Dan Bartlett, and Bartlett always offers a rather insufficient explanation, that the President was no longer flying, so it was just a formality. Well, the truth is, a pilot does not get to unilaterally decide, four years into his six year hitch, that he is not going to fly anymore. The President disobeyed orders, and he's not explained that. And documents that are required by regulation -- Now, I have studied these regulations rather extensively, and when a pilot is grounded, that pilot is then required -- the commanders are required to conduct a board of inquiry, and that board of inquiry has to issue a report on its findings as well as what is referred to as a “counciling statement,” and that counciling statement informs the pilot how he might rehabilitate himself and get back in the air or get reassigned. Mr. Bush -- none of these records are in Mr. Bush's file. They're missing.

Stuart, where did you get the IBM selectric bit from??? The 60 mins piece I saw (yes, again, not the most reliable) said the spacing between words/letters was varied, as a word processor does, NOT as a typewriter does...does it seem strange that the longest word that can be written on the top row of letters on a standard keyboard is "typewriter"...It really does not matter, come Nov. 4th the headline will read, "BUSH WINS".

a friend from North Carolina sent this to me today, gee I'm not looking to hire anybody....

Subject: resume

GEORGE W. BUSH
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC 20520

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Law Enforcement:

I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine,
in 1976 for
driving under the influence of alcohol.
I pled guilty,
paid a fine, and had my driver's license
suspended for
30 days.
My Texas driving record has been "lost"
and is not
available.

Military:

I joined the Texas Air National Guard
and went
AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or
answer any
questions about my drug use. By joining
the Texas Air
National Guard, I was able to avoid
combat duty in
Vietnam.

College:

I graduated from Yale University with a
low C average.
I was a cheerleader.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:

I ran for U.S. Congress and lost.

I began my career in the oil business in
Midland,
Texas in 1975. I bought an oil company,
but couldn't
find any oil in Texas.. The company went
bankrupt
shortly after I sold all my stock.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team
in a
sweetheart deal that took land using
taxpayer money.

With the help of my father and our
friends in the oil
industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I
was elected
governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS

I changed Texas pollution laws to favor
power and oil
companies, making Texas the most polluted
state in the
Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced
LosAngeles
as the most smog-ridden city in America.

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas
treasury to the
tune of billions in borrowed money.

I set the record for the most executions
by any
governor in American history.

With the help of my brother, the governor
of Florida,
and my father's appointments to the
Supreme Court, I
became President after losing by over
500,000 votes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:

I am the first President in U.S. history
to enter
office with a criminal record.

I invaded and occupied two countries at a
continuing
cost of *over one billion dollars per
week*.

I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively
bankrupted
the U.S. Treasury.

I shattered the record for the largest
annual deficit
in U.S. history.

I set an economic record for most private
bankruptcies
filed in any 12-month period.

I set the all-time record for most
foreclosures in a
12-month period.

I set the all-time record for the biggest
drop in the
history of the U.S. stock market.

In my first year in office, over 2 million
Americans
lost their jobs and that trend continues
every month.

I'm proud that the members of my cabinet
are the
richest of any administration in U.S.
history. My
"poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice,
has a Chevron
oil tanker named after her.

I set the record for most campaign
fund-raising trips
by a U.S. President.

I am the all-time U.S. and world
record-holder for
receiving the most corporate campaign
donations.

One of my best friends, Kenneth Lay,
presided over the
largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S.
History,
Enron.

My political party used Enron private
jets and
corporate attorneys to assure my success
wit h the U.S.
Supreme Court during my election
decision.

I have protected my friends at Enron and
Halliburton
against investigation or prosecution.
More time and
money was spent investigating the Monica
Lewinsky
affair than has been spent investigating
one of the
biggest corporate rip-offs in history.

I presided over the biggest energy crisis
in U.S.
history and refused to intervene when
corruption
involving the oil industry was revealed.

I presided over the highest gasoline
prices in U.S.
history.

I changed the U.S. policy to allow
convicted criminals
to be awarded government contracts.

I appointed more convicted criminals to
administration
than any President in U.S. hist ory.

I created the Ministry of Homeland
Security, the
largest bureaucracy in the history of the
United
States government.

I've broken more international treaties
than any
President in U.S. history.

I am the first President in U.S. history
to have the
United Nations remove the U.S. from the
Human Rights
Commission.

I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court
of Law.

I refused to allow inspector's access to
U.S.
"prisoners of war" detainees and thereby
have refused
to abide by the Geneva Convention.

I am the first President in history to
refuse United
Nations election inspectors (during the
2002 U.S.
election).

I set the record for fewest numbers of
press
conferences of any President since the
advent of
television.

I set the all-time record for most days
on vacation in
any one-year period. After taking off the
entire month
of August, I presided over the worst
security failure
in U.S. history.

I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S.
after the
World Trade Center attacks and less than a
year later
made the U.S. the most hated country in
the world, the
largest failure of diplomacy in world
history.

I have set the all-time record for most
people
worldwide to simultaneously protest me in
public
venues (15 million people), shattering the
record for
protests against any person in the history
of mankind.

I am the first Presid ent in U.S. history
to order an
unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the
military
occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so
against the
will of the United Nations, the majority
of U.S.
citizens, and the world community.

I have cut health care benefits for war
veterans and
support a cut in duty benefits for active
duty troops
and their families -- in wartime.

In my State of the Union Address, I lied
about our
reasons for attacking Iraq and then blamed
the lies on
our British friends.

I am the first President in history to
have a majority
of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as
the biggest
threat to world peace and security.

I am supporting development of a nuclear
"Tactical
Bunker Buster," a WMD.

I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge
to bring
Osama Bin Laden to justice.

During the Iraq War and Occupation
thousands of
American troops were injured and killed. I
did not
have the time to attend any of the
funerals for our
fallen soldiers but I did have the time to
attend more
than 43 fund-raising events of the
Republican party

RECORDS AND REFERENCES:

All records of my tenure as governor of
Texas are now
in my father's library, sealed and
unavailable for
public view.

All records of SEC investigations into my
insider
trading and my bankrupt companies are
sealed in
secrecy and unavailable for public view.

All records or minutes from meetings that
I, or my
Vice-President, attended regarding public
energy
policy are sealed in secrecy and
unavailable for
public review.

PLEASE CONSIDER MY EXPERIENCE WHEN
VOTING IN 2004.
