We had it all planned. After a couple years off I was finally going to return home. And my Virgin husband-to-be was going to experience his first burn. After 2 years of trying for baby with no success we'd pretty much given up. We were even joking around that at least we don't have to worry about protection on our summer adventure. Well about a month ago, much to our surprise the little pink stick read "positive"! We're due 7/2
So no burn for us this year. We're happy to have a little one on the way, but I'm also bummed. My BF has never gone, and I was so looking forward to finally sharing BM with him, there's only so much you can convey through stories and videos and pictures. Now I feel like we're not going to make it for a loooonnng time (due to $ and responsibilities.) I'll miss my friends and campmates again.

Congratulations!!
It won't be long before the all the excitement of expecting a baby far outweighs the disappointment of not going to BRC this year...
You get to raise a little human...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

That's great news! There is a fine burner community in Eugene, some with children and many regional outdoor events not connected with Burning Man but with burner participants that are child friendly.

FWIW I camped this year with a couple who had a several month-old newborn with them. I'm unsure if I'd recommend it though: The mother was pretty grumpy the whole Burn.

Congratulations on having perhaps the best reason to miss a Burn.
