yo... contact Kristy Kreme, see if she wants to party...

in regards to the area... I recommend Boulder City for a quiet dinner away from the city.

I'm just guessing here, but I don't think Kristy takes vouchers... Frequent flyer miles might count, though.

If I lived in the desert I'd go to the ocean.

So my epic decesion is that i will be going to San Fran for one fine day.
Leaving Wed oct 27th

Returning Wed oct 27th

its only a 2 1/2 hour flight and its worth not letting the ticket go to waste.

any spots that people really really recomend? Record shop locations? cafes? sites?

this will be fun.

The Buena Vista. Arrive at SFO, take BART from the Airport to the Powell St. Cable Car. Take the Hyde St. car to the end. Get off, the Buena Vista is right there. It is where the Irish Coffee was invented. Have a couple and walk to Pier 39 to do the Fisherman's Warf thing. There is a boatload of stuff to do there. The sfgate website has an entertainment guide ...

There is a shuttle to BART from the Oakland airport. I am assuming that since you are doing a day trip you wont have luggage. Getting around on BART/Muni/Cable Car is the best.

By the way .... San Francisco has 2 subway systems ... BART and Muni. Muni is city only and is a combination street car / subway. Maps and schedules are available on the Internet.

You can also download schedules to your PDA if you have one.

It has been rainy. Rained today, bigger storm due in later this week. The rain started early this year.

Figure on cool and damp weather. Bring a jacket or windbreaker that sheds water as a layer over a sweater or sweatshirt.

Another cool thing to do from Pier 39 is to take the boat tour out to Alcatraz.

I've always loved the Exploratorium for interactive science museums in SF.

That sounds like fun! I'd check out the murals while you are there. You can get a brochure that tells you where they are and make your own little tour. There's some wicked art- check out the Women's Centre, the whole building is a beautiful painting; there's Diego Rivera one; and so much more. Some of them are in the most interesting places. There's an alley that has really nice ones. Lots about politics and others are just plain gorgeous (or both!).

Here: http://www.precitaeyes.org/ or if you do a search you'll find more. It was one of the best things about my trips to SF. Very inspiring!

I would't bother with the Pier. We went there and it was a big tourist trap. The crocked steep street was pretty cool though. But the art! You can't see anything like it anywhere else!
