The anarchist police harassment in Portland, rioting, and vandalism are dramatized by the media. It doesn't really affect every day life here. It's wrong and unnecessary, I agree. I think it is setting back the BLM movement.

That may be exactly the point. The use of agents provocateurs is a time-tested technique for discrediting any legitimate protest movement.
The old union protestors had special units for rooting out and stopping these agents from coming in from the outside and destroying their cause. I don't think that BLM is that disciplined yet, or are filled with so much rage that they identify with the destruction to some degree. But it works against their cause.

Whether or not you support President Trump--and I'm saying this as someone who's voted Libertarian the past two presidential elections--even thinking of voting for a party that will not across the board condemn rioting and looting and the subsequent murders that inevitably will, and have, occurred is a disgrace. The Democrats do not give a damn about anyone but themselves and are happy to see our cities burn while people are thrown into poverty and bankruptcy. These asshats didn't mention the riots in blue cities once--not once!--during their entire convention and you expect them to have your back? You get the country and the government you deserve.

We now know that in late January, his national security adviser told him the coronavirus was the “biggest national security threat” of his presidency. A week later, he told Woodward that the disease was “more deadly even than your strenuous flus”.
Did he bother to share this with the American people so they could protect their own lives? Not quite. For the rest of February and March, he told the world it would disappear like a miracle, that it was no worse than the flu. “I wanted to always play it down,” he told Woodward. “I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create a panic.”
This from a president whose entire re-election campaign rests on injecting panic in white voters like bleach.

45 is playing his art of the deal role. We all know he has historically been bad at deals.

China has been analyzing and gaming outcomes for advancing its interests for years. They had plans for an economic downturn. When 45 announced the ban of TikTok/ByteDance in the US, they would have gamed out every alternative ten moves out. 45 did not think about his next move.

The Chinese know that shutting down the bulk of the company will just piss off 100 million US users, mainly young and some who vote. It will also piss off US venture capital funds and their US wealthy investors. It will wipe out over 10 billion of US investment at the current valuation. I'm not crying for them, but they have a lot of influence.
