Lights a candle, pours some coffee, adds a bit of morning brandy, bites a cupcake, takes Ratty, Gamin and YG (gently) by the hand and all dive into the NEB for a morning snuggle. Now that feels good!

Still getting things cleaned up. Figured out how to get the playa dust off my Kodiak tent. Used the EMT shade structure and hung the tent upside down. Sprayed it with diluted vinegar water then hit it with a pressure washer. Let it dry in the sun and it cleaned it up real nice.
An added bonus: My driveway now looks like playa. :>)

Wow! The sky behind the ridge west of town is bright orange for miles and miles from a fire out on the Air Force Base. We are not in any danger, nor are any occupied structures threatened yet - but it is really dramatic looking. 2,200 acres burned so far with 0% containment. Am glad I didn't wash my car today as a lot of ash is falling.

Good Morning Bar Peeps. I just saw the BEST 3 minute video. It is called, "How was burning Man". It's the husband telling his wife about it. If anyone can find and post it I'm sure others would enjoy it. Why do things disappear on the internet?

Re: The Bar 2016 Edition
Happy belated birthday, Gaminwench!
Things disappear from the internet a lot less often than you think. They may disappear from a particular homepage, but the content is almost always still there. Practicing and getting good at search-fu (like kung fu, but with search engines) can help you find and dig into stuff, even years later.
Yikes, mojo, hopefully they make some progress on containing that fire.
De-playafication continues, and I'm starting to get my fingerprints back. My phone finally recognizes my index fingers again (haha), hopefully I'll get thumbs back soon. In the meantime, lots of bins got cleared, cleaned, and re-packed.
Our older cat, who's normally a very skittish feral rescue, seems to have really come out of her shell since I've been back. Her new favorite game is something I call "armrest cat" - when I sit or lay down on the lounger, she comes out from her current favorite hidey spot and slowly makes her way up onto the lounger with me, and curls herself up right underneath where my hand had been resting. She of course gets a bunch of pets and scratches, but also really seems to enjoy falling asleep with my hand on her. Such a cutie.

Re: The Bar 2016 Edition
Last week I physically measured my 22 pieces I used at BM!FIGJAM wrote:
I was unspooling the mule tape for my playa needs. The footage is marked on the tape.
I had no idea the tape had foot numbers printed on the tape! Thank you for that!
One thing I don’t think has been mentioned is that one can just toss the playa saturated pieces into a washing machine (I suppose a front loader makes a difference) and it only takes a few minutes to untangle the clean mess as it is so slippery. (Don't forget to heat seal all ends!)
I used 3/4” tape in some very demanding situations (the tape could be strummed like guitar strings), and any knot, even a highly tightened granny knot done by a helper can be untied. These knots would have taken vise grips and an awl to undo if it had been any kind of rope.
Lag screws, impact wrench and mule tape. My playa set-up and take down will never be a chore again! Woo hoo!
