Here's to John Lennon

Post by tonytohono » Wed Dec 08, 2004 9:16 am

24 years. I remember where I was at. Not a John Lennon fan at the time, to speak of, but it really freaked me out.

Anyway, I'll never forget that day.

Yes. I was at a rock band rehearsal and the singer walked in with that look on her face. We didn't play so well that night.

He is dead.

His words live on in song.

Get over it.

weirdness..I was singing Maxwell's Silver Hammer this morning during the commute and decided to listen to my Beatles MP3's today at work - totally unaware of what day it was. Hmmm...today is my boyfriends birthday as well, now I can remember both.
I am a bit tied up at the moment...but if you leave your name and number.....

i woke up that night with a start, and went out to the kitchen to find my mom crying...i will never get over it. every time i walked by the spot where he got gunned down on the way to the park i would get choked up with tears. what a waste...what an amazing talent, at least we still have his songs to sing.

imagine all the people...

Happiness is a Warm Gun

She's not a girl who misses much
Do do do do do do do do
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane.

The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors
On his hobnail boots
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
Working overtime
A soap impression of his wife which he ate
And donated to the Nation Trust.

I need a fix 'cause I'm going down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix cause I'm going down
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun.

Happiness is a warm gun
Happiness is a warm gun
When I hold you in my arms
And I feel my finger on your trigger
I know no one can do me no harm
Because happiness is a warm gun
-Yes it is.

yes, but Joel dear, he was talking about a cocked and loaded penis, not an actual gun. let's review - shoot someone with a penis, end up with a soft, relaxed penis and perhaps a sticky mess. shoot someone with a gun - end up with a dead body.

capiche?

We first heard the White Album in Vietnam... we knew what he was talking about, but we turned it our way anyway (don't ask what "Dear Prudence" conjures up in my mind!)... and Lennon, being the genius that he was, could allow for more than one meaning. Listening to "Revolution" tells us that; "You better free your mind instead". Yeah, St. John was a Burner who left us before the burn.

He was well aquainted...
The revolutionary does not grow up because he cannot grow, while the creative individual cannot grow up because he keeps growing ~~ Eric Hoffer

And in the end,
the Love you take,
is equal to the Love,
you made.

NO truer statement .

The entire side 2 of Abbey Road. To me, the closest thing to sonic medicine ever written.

Well here's to fuckin Curt Cobain! He was a genious, gone so young. But his words live on in ambiguous song. Who can remember where they were when they heard the news? I think I was workin on pitchers at hte pizza joint down the road.
I don't know what yer talking about.
