And, they offer merchandise! Whaddya think, a "Drunkard" t-shirt? As they say, "Say it loud! Say it plowed!"

I especially like their disclaimer:

Views expressed in this magazine do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Modern Drunkard staff or publisher. In fact, I would like to take this opportunity to deny everything. Your Honor, I was never even near the place and, what's more, those are not my trousers and those are most assuredly not my friends. They are merely a drunken and surly gang of hitchhikers I made the terrible, terrible mistake of giving a lift. I promise to be good. Really. I swear.

I'll drink to that... :D

Erm, CA, I accept the fact that you're doing the "cowboy" thing and only doing the "yup" "nope" macho man thing, but could you possibly expand on your posting? I ass-u-me that your posting means "you moron, I already posted this", but I'm sorry, I simply don't have time to wade thru 11 pages to get to your point. What, then, is your point?

Magikal, it was merely an attempt to humor you and remind people of the other side to drinking related stuff. I think we once tried to humorize drinking in this society and it only backfires. I know too many folks who've been shattered by alcholosim to be in mood to be "funny" about it...

Ah! No offense intended, I merely thot it was good for a chuckle. My own father having died of cirrosis (sp?), I know what you mean.

Well, we could use some humorization but not in that way. I think we should make drunk jokes. Make them the butt of mean jokes. Use it as an insult "What, are ya DRUNK?" , "Ya fucking DRUNK", "what was he thinking when he wrote this software, he musta been DRUNK". We could probably do the same thing with other stuff in society too, maybe a line of "suicide bomber" jokes? Hold them up to ridicule so they don't WANT to do stuff like that. Shame is a powerful tool to manage behavior and societies do it all the time.
