Re: Rest In Peace
She was an ER trauma nurse.
She always had two or three adopted dogs and a cat or two.
She revelled in being a sparklepony, but she did the work. She ran her own camp, drove in her own truck and brought all her own stuff to BM, real old school style.
And she had a better captain’s hat than I did.
Actually one year the Land Yacht only made it because she got me an un-cracked oil pan for its engine from an Oregon wrecking yard... it happens to use one that’s very hard to find.

Re: Rest In Peace
Capt, So sorry. Thank you for sharing her wonderfulness with us. When we hear about truly nice and generous folks we aim a little higher in our own lives. Praise her every time you think of her. It's a great way to honour Kelly and grieve at the same time.

Captain,
Sorry to hear about Kelly's passing. I hope the memories of your good times with Kelly will soften the pain of your loss. We need more burners like her.

Kelly will be missed greatly and the world is definitely a darker place without her. I am truly blessed to have met her and gotten to spend time with her at burning man and in default.Captain Goddammit wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 7:31 amMy long-time best friend/campmate/BM travel partner
Kelly Linehan (“Hotlips”)... she passed away yesterday, on her wife’s birthday. Cancer.
She was in my original camp Johnny & the Playa Cruizers in the early ‘00s.
Over the years we were in Black Rock Spatial Delivery, her own camp Sparkle Pony Camp, and Fish Out Of Water, which she took over last year.
She was the kind of person who would get coffee at a drive through and have them put whatever the car behind her ordered on her tab.
She was the Land Yacht’s coxswain.
She had a zillion friends - real ones not FB “friends”, and her door was always open whenever you were in town (Portland).
When I went through various life bullshit, she’d let me bitch as much as I wanted and never pointed out when sometimes I might have been the dumbass.

Had the honor and privilege to camp next to Kelly last burn. Kelly was such a wonderful and beautiful spirit. I am going to miss her and I hope we can pay tribute to her this burn. Hugs Captain xoxoCaptain Goddammit wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 11:12 pmShe was an ER trauma nurse.

The answer may not be at Burning Man, but shouldn't we at least check

Rest in Peace Mayor Joey (Joseph Pettegrew)
You were one of the main forces behind The Conglomerate, Blunderland, and Spankey's Wine Bar, also the Creator of the Chairway to Heaven and many other toys I enjoyed over the years. You also helped form the Burning Band, and the Little Black Dress parade.
You inspired me to do more, and you will be missed.

MyLarry, you are a giant in our hearts!
AuntiM, I’m a big man with long arms but even they cannot reach and hug you as I so dearly want to.

Re: Rest In Peace
In the river of time,
encounters brief
acquaintance made,
perhaps a friend,
good fortune, if a love.
This soul we touch
as life we wend
please cherish it,
until the end,
truly, a gift above
To grieve, to cry,
past times are dear,
remember, smile,
the vision clear,
of laughter and of love.
So as the ship does cross the sea
a distant shore, is where they'll be
and memory left, of love and light
these things for us, we know are right.
send smiles, upon the dove.

Re: Rest In Peace
Tommy Cosman of Gerlach. He was a very sweet guy who looked much younger than the mid 60's that he was. He had life long mental health issues and was very slow learning. After his mother died 4 years or so back, he remained living in the abandoned ghost Gerlach Hotel.
I would stop into visit with him when passing through Gerlach and joked around with corny "dad humor" which he understood. I gave Tommy my phone number so he could call anytime he was feeling lonesome or needed a friendly voice.
Our camp always brought the extra food over to the old Gerlach Hotel and filled the fridge and pantry with enough food and treats to last him a month.
I visited Friday pre-burn and he appeared tired but in good spirits. The following day (Saturday), he had a heart attack and died on Sunday. Rest in peace Tommy.

- Founder and lead singer of the Jefferson Airplane, later regrouped as Jefferson Starship.
- A folk musician, Balin switched to electronic music after seeing the Beatles’ 1964 movie "A Hard Day’s Night."
- The classic film "Gimme Shelter," centred on the ill-fated Altamont concert from 1969, showed Balin getting knocked out on stage by the Hell’s Angels.
