Shake-down on the Rezs?

Post by Jackass » Mon Aug 20, 2018 7:16 pm

Is anyone else out there hearing about Bureau of Indian Affairs (federal agents) pulling over and searching cars, already this year, happening now?

And I'm not talking about business as usual either, sounds rather strong-armed...

Just trying to figure out if this is some fringe theory, or actuality.
Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

Just had a camp mate stopped in Nixon for supposedly driving with his high beams on (he wasn't). It's definitely happening for oftentimes manufactured reasons. Be careful out there folks.

I picture a slow-speed chase through Nixon, akin to that of OJ and the white bronco...

Nixon seems to be the epicenter.

The stops and searches are very prevalent and widely reported. I was wondering why it took so long for the subject to show up here.

Because we don’t panic as much? Some people are saying 10-15% of all cars are being stopped yet can’t site any credible source. I got in a pissing match with some Pooh flinging monkey over on reddit who said it was “EVERY car!!!!”

Hyperbole is strong...

The reporter from RGJ was looking into the chatter but I don’t get a feeling she made the effort to trek down there yet.

Matter of time I suppose before it gets syndicated.

That’s news today; all syndication pick- ups and little actual ground work.

Oh and we got people on reddit being all up in arms “boycott Nixon”. They don’t seem to understand that the citizens don’t have a choice that BIA DOI Is in charge and they really don’t have much say. “They (the tribe) signed an MOU with BIA”. Bitch please, doesn’t mean they really wanted to, prob had no choice...

Sorry I’m pissed that the entitlement of some of these fuckos is out of whack. Look I don’t like the increased stops but for fuck sakes drive like an adult, give them no reason to pull you over

Just venting, thanks for listening. Waiting on the down votes : :coffee:

So I couldn’t quite pin down with certainty if this hubbub was legit or just the usual pre-burn Playa chicken but more and more folks in either official capacity or folks we know have reported the sting in the affirmative.

Sarge and his crew from sextant got harassed.

John Curley mentioned it in the Journal series he runs.

Keep it secret, keep it safe.

Before you travel please look up Rodriguez versus the Supreme Court, it can save you from being harassed.

Criminal detentions generally require probable cause that the suspect is engaged in criminal activity, but an officer may conduct a traffic stop if the officer has a reasonable, articulable suspicion that the driver is engaging in criminal activity. The Supreme Court of the United States has held that investigative detentions, including traffic stops, "must be temporary and last no longer than is necessary to effectuate the purpose of the stop." Consequently, traffic stops may become unreasonable if they are unnecessarily prolonged.

Black Rock City is a long way from the Supreme Court. As described by the Anarchist Cookbook, suggest appealing to the LEO's megalomania instead of playing Attorney General as you will surly lose.

As a youngster, I had been caught red-handed numerous times with contraband alcohol and marijuana only go be released without citation. Respecting authority goes along way, like "yes sir" and "no sir," and, not exhibiting a scintilla of attitude, will go along way. Why in the fuck would a person want to poke an angry bear by litigating an issue surely to cause more totally unnecessary grief?

You have to understand cops are members of a paramilitary organization with a professional code of ethics when are held to a higher standard.

Trust me, i know these things. I have worked the toughest beat in the state!

There are plenty of laws to keep LE from stepping on our rights but in the field, the cops don't care about the law or whether your case gets dismissed or not. They routinely break the law all the time and you cannot argue law with a cop on the side of the road. If you get pulled over, valid reason or not, you will be unlawfully searched. Remember kids: criminals (read: cops) don't follow the law.

Not true... I got pulled over on Gate Road for my break lights not working... they wanted in my 5th wheel. Asked me the combo to the lock, said I don't know. He said it's a real small lock, easy to break. I said you gotta do what you gotta do. He asked if I don't know the combo, how was I supposed to get in inside. I said it was my friend's trailer and he knows the combo, pulled that right out of my ass... but he said, oh that makes sense.*

They found ganja in my pickup so they wrote a ticket for that... which was dismissed because Nevada recognizes MMJ Rx from other states.

If you get pulled over. Lock your doors. You do not have to let them in. That's the law... the Feds and Sheriff showed up, dog sniffing around... but they didn't break that lock.

Plus I was super polite and respectful... my friend was trying to play hard ball saying we know our rights and asking a cop why he was wearing a mask. They got annoyed by him and asked me if they could taze him.

I said if you do it inside the Burn you can call it art... they all laughed.

Know your rights and be respectful.

*I did know the combo... it was 123 lolz

The number of LEO assigned for this task is not purportional to the population, or normal traffic on that road which would normally only require a few more officers. I don't think the size of that force was coincidental.

So my take is they are using the opioid crisis in this country as their justification for this action. They want to stop the trafficking of opioids and heroin on the reservation. My guess is that zero burners are trafficking on the reservation. So this is nothing other than a planned harassment of those going to BM and because of this no money from my palms. I like a good shakedown but mine usually are being done by what's left of the dead.

That press release basically confirms that they are willing participants in this.

This seems like an amazingly short sighted action on their part. Good luck Paiute, you really spite your own face with this one.

That's what I get out of it as well. Sadly the actions of the Tribal Gov't are going to burn the average tribal member by loss of revenue, even if they're opposed to this action.

Not a reply, only my free expression on the subject. Won't be long before airport type security is mandated.
