Thank you everybody. She was lying in bed with her husband, awake, getting ready to get up and feed the chickens when she heard her friend downstairs hollering for her, just like she always did when she needed help. So Mom went downstairs and found her friend literally on fire. Assumptions at this time point to smoking while on oxygen. Mom dragged her friend out of the house after throwing a 5g bucket of water she had ready for the chickens to knock down the flames, all the while hollering for her husband. When she tried to re-enter the living room where the stairs were after rescuing her friend, she found the living room fully involved and could not get to the stairs. Odds are if she had,..............

She suffered smoke inhalation and had a mild heart attack but the survivors guilt is what is killing her. She has not been alone since with friends and family rallying.

And that damn farm girl is still trying to sell her eggs at the hospital asking us to bring them up to her.

Ygmir, she is a hero, and I will tell her you said so when I see her shortly. I'm sure more tears will be shed but that is good.

I just found out today, my very first supervisor with the state, a guy who was totally bombastic and who used to brag he was "the biggest a**hole in 9 counties" and who was prolly the person responsible for my making this ragtag bunch of misfits my defaultia career for the past quarter century died 3 months ago... I am really hurt... his ancestors lived literally next door to mine about 80+ years ago, and only found this out a couple years back...

(It was one of my favorite moments in my career... It was just before Christmas, we were all sitting in the office, so with all smiles, he gets up, and gives a card to the supervisor in the office next to us... And so John (the supervisor) opens the card, and reads to his crew...

"Giving you this, the truest of holiday wishes ..."

He opens the card. He stammers, and apparently drops the card. Neil's grinning, doing some paperwork. One of his crew picks it up, and says "Hey, it says "Fuck You" on the inside."

WE all broke up roaring with laughter. One of our people rescued it from the trash, taped it back together, and taped up in on the wall of the crew room.

How can you NOT love someone like that? )

Fucking fuck. We heard yesterday that my BIL was taken to Harborview hospital, and had emergency open heart surgery for a torn aorta. That poor guy has been battling HBP for years and has tried to get state medical for years and could't because he has no child (under 18) living with him. He;s been applying for disability too and he keeps getting denied. He can't work now and we're trying to figure out what we can do for him.

The Dr, called this morning and said he was in critical but in stable condition. I've been praying for Sean all day. But Les is having a hard time of it. Fuck!
