Lost/Stolen scam

Post by Isso09 » Sat Jul 23, 2022 4:25 am

In 2019, I’ve heard of a few people buying tickets from 3rd parties who would report them lost/stolen after the transaction. The buyer then arrives at the gate to find their ticket voided.

Is there a way to protect yourself against this scam? Am I missing something? Sounds like an actual nightmare.

As an experienced burner you already know all this. For new or recent burners -

The number of tickets that change hands on the secondary market is tiny. And it will be even smaller than that this year with the ticket structure.

Ticket sources are tracked in the BRC Census http://blackrockcitycensus.org/index.html

Third party reseller - s_____b, e__y, C________t was about 1%. From a stranger, your case, 2%. Both can have your ticket cancellation scam, fake paper ticket copies, and a variety of other scams.

The BMORG has made electronic ticket exchanges secure.

The best way to buy a physical ticket is from a friend in real life who would never scam you, or from friends of real life friends in your regional who would never scam the community. Hint, get involved in your regional!
