WHAT TS IS ALL ABOUT

The mission of Tribal Spirit is to produce parties, workshops and activities celebrating our international diversity for the citizens of Black Rock City. Our motto is: Many Countries, One Tribe TS was founded by one mighty Czech, now living in Australia, as a place where everyone is welcome. Hence, our camp hometown - Sydney. Tribal Spirit has been part of BM since 2017 as a theme camp, growing and improving each year. Over the years our camp has gained an international reputation and has united people from all over the world, becoming a true tribe! We have been witnessing the world become more and more fractured, even within countries, with people identifying with “tribalism” in the worst sense, building walls, setting limits and expelling each other from “their tribes”. That's why it is essential and natural for us to focus on multiculturalism, celebrating and sharing our own pieces of culture from around the globe on the playa. We as a camp, like the Burning Man Project, want to promote inclusion and bring the world into balance. We believe that cultural sharing should be fun, not preachy or pedantic. There is no better way to burst our cultural bubbles than to party with people from other cultures! We produce parties, workshops and activities celebrating our international diversity. Within a week, our guests can visit and enjoy distant places and cultures and be part of our region-themed parties, activities and workshops. We do not support any culture appropriation practices and so it's important for us to provide authentically-sourced experiences and interactions. We are sharing the cultures we grew up in. Parties: Each region-specific party will be curated by a group of locals, our own camp members. These daytime events include:

● Australian 'Straya' party is a returning Australia-themed party. All Australians and non-Australians are highly encouraged to come and experience our 'Mate!TheVegemite' bar (with optional sensual Vegemite licking experience), Australian souvenirs, music and drinks, our special design stickers and random Straya name generator.

● Our Eastern European 'Babooshka' party is also a returning event. Ever heard of kvas? Salo? Shproty? But hell you heard about vodka, right?! At Babooshka we offer Eastern-European delicacies, as well as wild folk games and gifts for the smartest asses on the playa. Prepare for drunk dances to the craziest music hits, lots of vodka from a samovar and a special cocktail from our bartenders that'll make the most stoic burners dance in a very silly (true Eastern-European) way!

● Our Western-European ’’Riviera, Baby!’ party produced by Italian and French campers including the interactive "Wiener Spinner" circus wheel; “vin et fromage” tasting, the bocce alla grappa challenge, and the hottest European EDM on the playa. Tribal Dance After-Parties follow each of our daytime region-themed parties with refreshing alcoholic and non-alcoholic Slushies, UV reactive psychedelic decorations and our finest tunes. Bring your culture to our party, whether from your country or other ‘tribe’ that you identify with. Take a very special 3D-scanned personal gift from us. Activities:

● Tribal Triathlon In The Desert is a “sport” event, including 3 different types of activity you can only do in the desert. Sport has been known for years to foster connection - so think of it like the Burning Man Olympics with a ranking not based on speed but on the artistry of the costume and performance. Of course, every participant will have their beer at the finish line and a chance to snap a photo in our very special photo booth. Guests are invited to represent their national cultures or other cultural identities perhaps whilst channelling their inner tribal spirit (e.g. wearing the animal print that most represents you!). Cultural appropriation will not be accepted at this event - we are looking for meaningful intercultural exchange in a fun, dynamic context.

Workshops:

● "Traveling Man" workshop where we'll build the Man out of souvenirs that people bring from their home countries. The sculpture then will be standing in front of our party dome throughout the week for burners to add more to it. We plan on celebrating the "Traveling Man" on Saturday with tribal dances around the sculpture.

● Jewelry/leather workshop: Make your playa tribal bracelet/ necklace. Loosely structured activity with a range of supplies to make tribal bracelets/necklaces that represent your tribal spirit. Workshop to learn bead pendant creation running in parallel.

● Cheese n’ Wine workshop as part of our Western European Party: come learn the best cheese and wine pairings, how to not look like a fool at wine tastings or teach us your own local techniques and practices!

● All our activities include an open bar, DJs with a solid music system, and gifting. We are also inviting any burners to come and organize their events in our camp as long as they align with our motto - “Many Countries, One Tribe!”

If you think this camp is a right fit, please contact me here and I'll be happy to answer your questions

We will consider members, who are happy to participate in our interactivity program or help with the camp build/tear down

Hey guys!
Mike S. here, this will be my first Burning Man and I’m looking for a good camp to join!
I’m not sure what sort of help this camp currently could use so here’s a little info on myself.
I’m 33, living in northern AZ, a bartender these days but I’ve done many things and I’m handy with pretty much any project that comes up. I can cook, clean, create, build, tear down, and whatever else needs to be done. Im into most outdoor sports, playing music, fitness, camping, boating, and anything I can do with my dogs. I get along great with pretty much everyone, and I love a good party and having a good time and. But I also know how to keep my shit together and be a functioning member of a group. I’m NOT that guy who get too smashed and starts fights and just ends up pissing off the group.
So anyways, if you think I might be a good fit, and/or if there’s anything else y’all want to know about me then just let me know!
Peace!

You can't be serious, this must be a funny joke. Did you actually get placement? How?? After the flaming shitheap of 2018, a little birdie told me Tribal Spirit rightfully didn't get its own placement in 2019 and absorbed into another camp. And we thought that was the end of that. You would come back with the same name and everything? That's very bold. I've been calling it "Camp Dumpster Fyre" since I stayed there.
Over the years our camp has gained an international reputation
Well, if that ain't the truth!

To newbies and prospective campers: I hope you're doing your due diligence and a cursory google before joining a camp. Please refer to this reddit thread for an accurate account of what it was like to camp here in 2018.
