If you introduce yourself and your friends, it will help you find a camp to fit your interest.
How many people and where are you coming from? Did you read the First Timer's Guide and the Survival Guide?
You should be preparing for shelter, food and a bike while on the playa. There is a lot of prep involved in going to the Black Rock Desert.
Temps have been in excess of 100 degrees F, 38 Celsius this month. Nights can get very cold and possibly close to freezing. Prepare for both.

Read more about it. Sham has some good links. I found it to be very challenging and requiring a lot more preparation than a regular camping trip. Disney may be a better option, cleaner, more predictable, more comfortable, available at last minute. This event seems to to be perceived now and to have become something that requires no more than the ability to "pay all costs." It was designed with the hope that people would actually manage it on their own, and add to the experience of others.
