Any camps trying to sell their storage?

This is the first year we are applying for a theme camp placement. I understand that placement is not guaranteed, but we still want to plan the camp setup as if our application were approved.

I am wondering if there are any camps out there who have decided to not return to Playa for whatever reason and are looking to liquidate their camping supplies. We are a small camp (10 people or less) and would be interested in shade structures, chairs, furniture, generators, etc.

I know this may be a long shot, but I wanted to give it a try anyway. If you have any suggestions or think that this is not even a good idea, please also share your thoughts! Thanks.

It is a long shot and for the most part it is leaning towards ‘bad idea’.

One of the coolest things in BRC; the thousands of different solutions to the same problem. How to survive 10 days.

Even tho the most successful solutions tend to inspire a big chunk of the city, they end up being personalized, tweaked and customized just enough that they require tribal knowledge to run optimally.

You may get lucky and find someone disposing of a relatively stock, say, Costco Carport based camp … well documented, Playa tested.

But overall, most camps have their own Little solutions and custom ideas.

As much as you will gain a solid foundation of gear, you will also inherit all the problems, shortcomings, wear-n-tear, technical debt … of the setup.

Then you have to make it all work in the context of your vision of Your Theme Camp and the interactive experience it provides.

Besides, for 10 or fewer, other than some communal shade … what exactly are you looking for?

Yeah. I’ve been to storage units in Fernley where the last person in was a heave, jam and shove. They are filthy dusty, camps loaded up in haste. People cherry pick for years from stuff owned by people who haven’t burned in years. Half is trashed trash. (You’ll never see “storage wars: Fernley” as a tv show.) Unless a camp was super organized, I wonder, after a couple years and multiple members loading and unloading, if there’s even a way to figure the usable inventory. I think the best camps would have likely self reliant members and would not be storing basic camp gear, but larger infrastructure. Unless you had the time to really sort stuff, it would be a crap shoot. But possibly a bargain to be had, and have a dump run planned into your schedule. There were overseas camps that needed to divest, after a couple years off. You could try a blind email to the overseas regional contacts list at the main site. Maybe there are some leads there.
