About Buddha Camp:

Our camp was founded in 2007 by a small group of SGI Buddhist friends who wanted to bring the philosophy to the playa.

Since then, we have created a safe space, sanctuary, community, friend-family burner vibe where campers and burners can rest, share, heal, eat great food, enjoy some cold brew, tea, and feel wholly accepted and supported. Most of our campers are PNW based (mostly around Seattle), but we love hosting campers from all over and have had amazing experiences with new campmates from NYC, SF, LA, and more!

At the burn, we offer daily spiritual offerings in the Lotus Dome that have in the past included chanting, yoga, Refuge recovery, Vipassana meditation, and workshops such as mindful movement, ‘Ask a Buddhist’ Spiritual Life Coaching, Taking off the Masks of the Patriarchy, and more! Our Lotus Lounge café is a relaxing cafe space with daily cold brew and iced tea service and community vibes. We are not a party camp but do like to party.

We have great infrastructure and are an incredible camp for virgins and veteran burners alike who are looking for an accepting community environment. Our camp dues cover shade, water, shower, kitchen/dining area with protective structure from the elements, our Lotus dome, Lotus lounge café, food, and gear transportation from the Seattle Metro area in our camp truck.

We are prioritizing campers who are one or more of the following:

🛠 Have engineering/builder skills and can come with the early arrival crew to help build the camp
🥗 Folks with cooking and kitchen/event food management experience to help with our weekly camp meals
🌱 Buddhist practitioners and spiritual seekers
✌️ Those who identify as People of Color (POC) and LGBTQIA+
🎟 People who have a ticket in hand or can commit to finding their own ticket.

WE ARE CURRENTLY ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE FOLKS WITHOUT A TICKET/VEHICLE PASS IF YOU CAN COME EARLY ARRIVAL ON 8/21-22

Do you have to be a Buddhist to join our camp?

No, in fact, we have many members who don't identify as Buddhists but support the philosophy. It's all about finding the right fit!

If this all sounds rad to you and you’re looking for a camp to call home, please PM me with a note about you and why you're interested in the camp. Then we'll schedule a quick call to see if it’s a good fit!

Hello :) my name is Guillermo. I came across your post and am beyond interested. I am driving to burning man from Nj as a virgin. I already have a ticket but in search of a vehicle pass. I read your post and highly feel I can greatly contribute to your camps needs. I am a very hands on, respectful, friendly, positive and open minded person. If there is any questions I can help answer about myself please reach out as I am very interested. I can also arrive the dates you noted. Thank you so much. (I’m not sure if you can see my email or how this reply system works but here it is just in case. [email protected] )

I don't have a ticket,
am available as a volunteer even before 21st, but would need some way to get to playa, as I can't drive and would have just flown right from europe
