Camp THREAT is recruiting for 2024

Yeah, we know, the Official Unofficial Theme of Burning Man 2024 is “Camps Recruiting Campers”. There are literally a million theme camps looking for campers right now. But only one of those is Camp THREAT.
You may or may not have heard of Camp THREAT. BRC loves us, BRC hates us, BRC loves to hate us and hates to love us. It’s probably actually better if you haven’t heard of us.
Who we are: A bunch of rowdy, obnoxious, opinionated, hard-working, and deeply sensitive souls who have come together to build one of Black Rock City’s most popular unpopular theme camps.
What we do: We work our asses off. We bring a 24/7 camp of interactive shenanigans to our prime location in the heart of Black Rock City. We host a bar serving up the finest in drinks and leftist satire. We will make fun of everyone, including ourselves.
Camp THREAT serves as the unofficial headquarters of the Black Rock City Communist Party. Don’t let that fool you though we do ask for financial contributions (dues) from all our members. They are not the lowest camp dues on the playa, nor are they the highest. Membership in Camp THREAT comes with the following: Hot dinner every night (veg/GF options available), drinking water, camp shower, access to tower/heckling platform, public, private and tent shade, some stupid stickers to give your friends, and other perky perks. We will have 24/7 electricity available, if you plan to bring an air conditioner we will ask for additional financial contributions for that.
We are a participation heavy camp. We throw multiple events in our camp and also find engaging ways to participate in BRC outside of camp. We work hard and play hard. We need everyone to pitch in and help with our events and we will ask for you to sign up for one shift during the week – helping out in the kitchen, MOOP sweep and/or coordinating ice/recycling runs. Every Camp THREAT Member is expected to help at least ONE FULL DAY of set-up or tear down. More if you want us to really, really like you. We understand some people have jobs and default world commitments, if you are unable to come early or stay past Sunday 9/3 we will ask you to sign up for FOUR shifts through the week in exchange for not helping build/strike. We currently have a few WAP’s available for pre-event build for dedicated bad-asses interested in helping with Set-up.
We ask our members to support the causes by bringing a bottle each of alcohol for the bar and some mixers, and some sort of offering to the comfort of our lounge area- cushions, seating, rugs etc. There are many camps you could join, most of them will not ask as much of you as Camp THREAT will. If you just want to show up and hang out under shade that someone else built and eat food that someone else brought and cooked while not doing much to contribute yourself, then THREAT is probably not the camp for you.
Camp THREAT endeavors to create a safe and welcoming space to ALL regardless of gender, presentation, sexual orientation or expression.
Important: Camp THREAT will not fly the flag of, nor entertain the politics of, any nations or nationalist groups that are currently engaging in or advocating for the oppression, colonization, or genocide of any native, indigenous and/or marginalized groups of people.
