Welcome home campers! You asked for it and you got it! Your friends and debauched neighbors from Barbie Death Village are once again, as our gift to Black Rock City, offering our J Resort (formally The Sands Regency) Hotel Deal for 2023. This deal is for all burners not just Barbiebarians coming to or leaving from Burning Man. Here are the details (taxes and resort fees are not included; all casinos charge them):

Monday, August 21 to Thursday, August 24: $55
Friday, August 25 to Saturday, August 26: $159
Sunday, August 27 to Thursday, August 31: $55
Saturday, September 1 to Tuesday, September 5: $159
Wednesday, September 6 to Thursday, September 7: $55

You must call (866) 386-7829 or (866) FUN-STAY and ask for BARBIE23. We have taken down several floors of rooms and each room sleeps 4 (12 if you're sponsoring the orgy). The J Resort has a free sauna, large 15 person jacuzzi, steam bath, ice machines on every floor, large outdoor swimming pool, and ample free parking. There is even covered free parking you can use for the duration of the week if you're carpooling to the playa. There is also a free shuttle to and from the airport and the J Resort is five short blocks from the Amtrak station.

Never let it be said that Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro (a wholly owned subsidiary of Barbie Death Village doesn't unselfishly give back to the burner community. You my friends are indeed welcome. See you on the playa!

I’m not sure,I heard it shut down but that may have just been due to construction.

Mel's Diner is now at Boomtown. But closed? No, that can't be right. More likely they hadn't just yet opened it and it defaulted to the 2022 site. PM me if problems persist.

The Jands did a lottttt of changes inside and out. I really don’t think it’s there anymore. But you can catch a burger at Boomtown

Just got back from the J Resort this morning and they already have 35 rooms booked. My goal is to try and get 100. I am going to post this on the Burning Man 2023 Facebook page. Hopefully they won't automatically take it down. Since we don't make a profit from this and it really is something to help the burner community, maybe they'll let it fly. We'll see soon enough I suppose.

My husband and I are thinking of booking for Sat night pre-gate, but noticed on the Jands (heheh love the snark) website the nightly rate is 142.00 - any idea why the difference? If no idea than will book with the group rate to hope in the future you all can get a lower rate.

Also please no snark, is the J Resort safe to leave a packed SUV in the parking lot overnight?

It should be safe people have been parking packed rv’s, cars, etc for years there. They may have even improved security. And I thank you for keeping “The Jands” a thing

A little construction noise during the day, not bad and none at night.
Room had been remodeled as had the lobby/ entrance area.
Mel's is gone.
Food in the buffet has improved but chicken was rubber. Other restaurants where expensive but I'm a cheap SOB.
Parking lots where torn up, construction in progress. Enough for patrons now but I think they will need space for Burners. They might be finished by late August.

I've been working on this with the J Resort. They said they'd get back to me sometime this week. Keep your fingers crossed. It will be renamed (assuming they allot me the rooms) the Doc Pyro Reno Hotel Deal since I have changed camps (Kindergarten Kamp, 6:45 and C). As soon as I know anything, either good or bad, I'll let you know.
